Does anyone know what the source for the following dua is:
Allahumma Zas-Sultanil-Azeemi, wal Mannil Qadeemi, Zal Waj-hil Kareemi, Waliyyal Kalimaatit-Taaammaati, wad-Da’waatil-Mustajaabaati, Aafil– (take the names of the beneficiaries such as wife and children) – – -min Anfusil Jinni, wa A’yunil-Innsi
“اللهم ذا السلطان العظيم والمن القديم وذا الوجه الكريم ولي الكلمات التامات والدعوات المستجابات عافنا من أنفس الجن وأعين الإنس”

Once I read Shaikh Abdulrahman Saheem said the above dua is mentioned in a hadith by Ibn Asakar of Damascus which is labeled as weak [Da’if] Hadith. The hadith which contains the above dua is rejected and labelled as fabricated.
yes lethal this is exactly what I was talking about. someone gave it to me from a book of dua’s as protection against the evil eye and jinn but I was trying to find the translation for it in english but couldn’t find any source for it. I always like to know the authenticity of things like this so it’s interesting to know its based of a weak hadith.
The protection from evil eye, shayatin etc is really very simple and is in the Quran:
Last 3 surah of the Quran (recite as many times through out the day, specially after MAgrib salah, and in bed at night)
Al Fatiha (also referred to by the Prophet as ar Ruqya)
Ayatul Kursi (in Surah Al Baqarah)
Surah Al baqarah (reciting it repels the shayatiin)
keep all salaah regularly
stay in wudhu
The effectiveness of these will depend on the level of Imaan of the person reciting it. That is, the firm belief in the theological Oneness of Allah.
This is sufficient, insha-Allah. No need for sheikh intervention, talisman, and hanging verses, or numbers or symbols on doors and walls etc (which leads to kufr, pleasure of shayatiin, and hell fire).
Without commenting on the specific dua, weak Hadith were not thrown out in a bygone era, the amal in them are done upon approval or recommendation from Scholars.
What is the theological Oneness? As opposed to just Oneness
