Ok so I’ve always had this habit of maintaining a planner (not electronic) and I write down all my to dos on a daily basis and follow them very well. In fact, if I don’t write it down, chances are that it will not get done.
So now with my older daughter’s busy schedule, I want her to take some responsibility of when her swim lessons are, when she needs to revise her masjid sabaq, when she needs to do her homework, etc… as I need her to understand time management. I’m planning to buy her a junior planner and she’s really looking forward to it as she see’s her mommy use it quite effectively.
So do you think I’m moving a bit too fast? She’s 7 going on 8…?
i agree with sgc it's never too early the sooner she gets started on time management the better she will become and at this age like you said she's excited because she see you doing it so it's easier for her to absorb things at this age rather than when she gets older
@ our school they start planners with 1st and 2nd graders. I am going to start planners with my kindergarteners as well. I was never taught or made to maintain a planner therefore it is extremely hard for me to maintain one for myself. I think the earlier you start it, the better organized they will be when they grow up.
Njgal, what kind of a planner is that, and what does your kid write in it?
It is a weekly planner in a binder.
It has her daily homework, upcoming tests, upcoming events like school walkathon, birthdays. She uses it for home and school tasks and gives her insight to what her week is going to look like.
