Organic shampoos/soaps

Have you ever used an organic shampoo or soap. They’re now selling them even in Target and such places.

My hair is SOOOO terrible from all these harsh shampoos and then straightening and a friend is trying to get me hooked to some of these organic shampoos. I’m going to try one tonight. Its by Lush? Well, anyway, I know there are some on the market that are much cheaper and was wondering if you guys had any experience with them.

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

Since you asked guys, i take liberty to answer.
Are you kidding me.
I buy a soap and use it as
1-soap
2-shampoo
3-shaving cream.

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

yeap. I use an organic conditioner for my daughters hair. They smell so yum.. And her hair looks to nice and silky... even when ive used it on my damaged her, it comes out looking nice and healthy

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

i dont think lush is organic. they use natural ingredients and they are made by hand thats all....they are definitely not free of chemicals most of the time. also with many organic products you need to see HOW organic they are...some still claim to be organic when they are only 60-70% organic.

anyways...i like an organic shampoo by avalon organics...its called 'biotin thickening shampoo' it contains saw palmetto which is a natural ingredient and good for the hair. But it depends again..I gave the shampoo to a friend to try who did not like it at all. Obviously if you are used to chemical products and heat styling then it will take a long time for the hair to get used to going natural. Aubrey Organics, terressentials & burt's bees all make organic shampoos and soaps.

Some people also use herbal powders and natural rinses for the hair ( reetha and sikakai herbs to cleanse and apple cider vinegar to rinse)

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

sadzz, what's the name of the shampoo?

where do you get reetha/sikakai herbs?

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

any indian shops carry them in powder form...they're really cheap too.

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

Can someone recommend a good shampoo for dry, frizzy and voluminous hair?

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

That's why I posted this topic. My hair has become the same way, with abuse (ironing, and bad cheap shampoos), and I just used a lush shampoo last night. I will tell you that the smell of the shampoo is still in my hair (showered yesterday), and that I can run my fingers through my hair again...

I'm going to try Organix next - its only 5 dollars for a bottle, and a friend has been using it and claims that its wonderful and leaves your hair nice and soft...the milk and honey one is the one I'm going to try. Then there is Avalon too. Target has a good variety of these organic shampoos. I'm just tired of these cheap shampoos. Pantene, sunsilk work ok for a short term, but then they just leave your hair dry and sticky from the soam scum.

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

Ok, I tried Organix. It was a miracle! My hair is shiny and soft, and it wiped out all the soap scum in one shot.

:o

Inbetween shampoo's use a clarifying shampoo, this removes all the hair product build-up. Usually shampoo doesn't stay in u're hair long enuff to bring about drastic results.. the one's that make u're hair soft only contain more chemicals to "relax" and calm u're hair.

A baby shampoo is great for rinsing u're hair (daily) and use a clarifying shampoo once a week!

Niksik for really dry hair, Dove is great!

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

Dove shampoo is not good ,tressmee is also good for dry damaged hair and also conditioner too is good

Dove is 1/4 moisturizer it keeps the hair supple, and less prone to damage and breaking :) tresseme is good for short-term.. whatever shampoo u use, if u use other styling products be sure and use a clarifying shampoo once a week!

Gina, what clarifying shampoo would you recommend. Also don't know if you have heard of himalaya products but how are they for usage ? shampoo and conditioner...??? your views and opinions I always love to read :)

I am a HUGE fan of Himalaya products sadi.. but u can't find them everywhere that's why I usually don't write abt them :) their protein shampoo's are great!

VO5 has a great clarifying shampoo.. it removes product build-up and residue.. always apply conditioner to the ends and not to the roots, that makes u're hair flat. Thermasilk has great shampoo's too

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

Gina are you talking about Himalaya Herbals?

Yep, Niksik

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

I've used their moisturizing cream, hair oil and shampoo...very good. It's available at amazon.com.

Re: Organic shampoos/soaps

anything for hair that is really fine (i.e. it gets greasy after a day of washing???? clarifying shampoos get the hair clean but they leave so many knots, and if i use conditioner or "softening" shampoos, so many strands fall out!

For fine hair Sara use a volumising shampoo.. try thermasilk! If u're roots get oily, dilute baby shampoo with water and rinse u're roots. Use a heavy conditioner to the ends of u're hair..Even a protein shampoo is great for fine hair. Wella has great volumising shampoo's :)
