ok, so what is your personal p.o.v on organ donation? any organ donor card signing people here? is it against islam? if you can help multiple people after you pass on, should you? if you were in a situation yourself or your mom or your kid or someone else you love, was, would you want them to receive an organ donation if it meant that would save their lives?

It does has links previously discussed:)…I personally am all for it…And I was also thinking that there should be like an opt out rather then opt in on the driver licences…basically it will fill the marge shortage of organ donors…since this process has worked in some countries..I have forgotten the names of thoses ![]()
Re: organ donation
But it is a very good topic though...I think people need more awareness of it...as I have heard so many times that Islam doesnt allow it which is so totally untrue:)
Re: organ donation
^^ welll....... no comments.. since this is quite a sensitive topis.....
personally I would love to do so, but I've heard that islam states otherwise.. so.. I'll just leave it there..
Re: organ donation
probably the same ppl who say that adoption isnt allowed in islam.. ![]()
Re: organ donation
^well adoption IS allowed, but many scholars say organ donation isnt, especially after death and the logic behind it is that the body isnt ours, it belongs to Allah and so we shouldnt be distributing to others what isnt really ours to begin with
Re: organ donation
but think of all the people you could be helping! surely all who get organ donations were meant to get them in order to live... how could it be wrong then?
i think the other thread has a better discussion on it... ima go read it now!
Re: organ donation
all I can donate is my dil, aur woh donate ho chuka hai

Re: organ donation
hmmmm organ donation had a very diff meaning in college..but i funn think u guys are talking about that sort of organ donation
Re: organ donation
Even though I like the idea of organ donation & helping others I will not be doing it for myself or any family member. I do not like doctors & medical people & don’t want to deal with them after death. They do not respect live people I can’t even imagine how they would treat the dead.
I have asked a few medical people If they would donate their dead bodies for medical students to learn (different than organ donation but still similar) and all of them said NO because they have seen what goes on in those rooms.
Unless it’s a relative taking out the organs I won’t do it which is why I don’t keep a card with me.
Re: organ donation
I have to say that I cant imagine a God/Allah that would disapprove of donating organs to one in need, thus saving a life or giving sight to the sightless.
A truly selfless act that brings so much to one in need would surely be rewarded I'm sure.
Re: organ donation
nothing wrong with organ donation. in the end its just personal choice. I would rather have my organs help some human being than earthworms, although eventually the organs will wind up as worm feed anyways

If this holds true, then how does Allah feel about us donating a kidney to our own child if he/she should need it?
How about donating blood? How about donating bone marrow?
Re: organ donation
I'll never forget the time I went to see my doc for a flu-type thing...he was called out of the room for a phone call and I heard every word.
He was talking to the mother of a young boy who needed a blood transfusion and would likely die without it. Her religion (Jehovah's witness) says no so the mother was saying no. The doc explained to her that her boy WANTS to live and has no prob with whatever they need to do to acheive keeping him alive. The doc was in tears at the end of the call, asking his secretary to get legal intercession.
No if you step back and thing about God or Allah or Yahweh....what do you think HE would want to do in this situation? Really. Forget about the "written rules" which are really just interpreted by plain people. A truly merciful and loving God would not condemn a soul for wanting life IMHO.
Re: organ donation
but then it opens up the other debate about how, if its your time, then its your time and should you fight it? but then again, if you can fight it and do fight it, then was that the path pre-determined for you?
same thing with life support... i know that God forbid, should i ever up in a state where i'd need life support, i would expect and hope my family would do everything for me but pull the plug. when other people step in and pull the plug, are they playing God? should they keep you alive until God decides its time for you to die? is being on life support punishment for something you did, therefore you must do your time, and no one has the right to decide if you live or die? its so complicated. and interesting! :)
Re: organ donation
Life support is different than assisted suicide. How are you playing God? Well, maybe you are. I am not sure.
But still I would rather have my family pull out the plug and let me die nicely rather than keeping me alive in a vegetative state..
Re: organ donation
Mama that's sad..its different when its a young child, I think any sane parent wants to do watever possible, if that means get donations (money or organ)....there's plenty of Muslim families who've asked for donations for their sick children...if one wants to die thesmelves, le them, but its horrible when they'll let their child die....
Re: organ donation
Can I keep my organ until I die? I kinda of need it.
