i jus wanna know is organ donation haraam?
i have always thought that it weren’t bt some ppl say it is,
It is not haraam to recive a transplant so why is it if u donate?
wat’s sad is that there r so many ppl especially here in the UK on the transplant list, whether it is for a liver, heart, kidney wat ever
and some actually die while waitin for one,
when i die i would happily donate as long as it was not haraam
Tell me this… does saving someone’s life or helping someone not sensibly sound pleasing and compassionate… how can Islam then forbid it?
I just heard something about this the other day, and that made a lot of sense to me… violating the human body, whether living or dead, is normally forbidden in Islam, BUT in cases of necessity and in saving another person's life, this edict can be overridden – something that follows the maxim of “al-darurat tubih al-mahzurat” i.e. necessities overrule prohibition.
The scholar I was listening to outlined three guidelines for organ donation: As long as you’re NOT harming yourself through donation, as long as you’re NOT doing it for monetary gains and as long as it is saving someone’s life, it is allowed.
Its been discussed here a few times. I will try to find you links to previous discussions, meanwhile you can also try to search Religion Forum on "Organ donations".
I think the consensus (or atleast a majority) thinks its clearly permitted in Islam.
