Kraft cheeses aren't halal either
Which Kraft cheeses? At least in Canada, the majority of Kraft cheese is fine. There are 2-3 exception, I think the ones that are made in Belgium or Denmark or something like that, I forget their name. But the rest they told me are fine

From the official website of Oreo
Is Oreo halal?
Oreo products on general sale in the UK and Ireland are suitable for a Muslim diet and they are made without pork derivatives or alcohol. However the products are not halal-certified.
Is Oreo kosher?
Oreo is not currently kosher. But hopefully in the future we’ll be able to cater for a kosher diet, just not yet. Sorry.

Dear Abdul Gearay,
Regarding your ongoing query into Oreo biscuits, the entire Oreo product range as sold in the U.K is unsuitable for vegetarians.
Additionally, I´m afraid it is not our policy to provide comprehensive lists of products which are suitable for vegetarians due to the extensive nature of our product range, but if you have a query regarding a specific product or range please let me know and I will be happy to inform you concerning that product.
Kind regards,
Benjamin Green

WHAT IS IT?
Oreos™ are brand of snack cookies produced by Nabisco. The classic Oreo is made of two rich, near black chocolate wafers separated by a white creamy filling. They are the best-selling cookie in the U.S. In fact, over 362 billion Oreos have been sold since the cookie was first introduced in 1912, making it the best selling cookie of the 20th century. For the first 85 years of their manufacture, Oreo™ Cookies were made with animal fat .

The rich chocolate flavor of Oreos is so popular that it is found in recipes for milkshakes, cheesecakes, ice cream sundaes, pie crusts, pudding, breakfast bars, cakes and all types of chocolaty sweets.
HOW IS IT MADE?
For the first 85 years of its manufacture, Oreos were made with animal fat . That started changing in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when Nabisco began reformulating its recipe to use vegetable shortening.
In the year 1998, Oreo cookies in the U.S. became certified as not containing fat from pigs or other animals . Oreos are made with the artificial flavoring ‘vanillin’ and not with ‘vanilla extract.’ Vanilla extract contains alcohol (ethanol) which counters Islamic dietary requirements. Vegetable shortening and vanillin are used in all varieties of Oreo cookies.
Oreos contain: Sugar, Flour, Vegetable Oil, Cocoa Powder, Corn Syrup, Baking Soda, Cornstarch, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Vanillin and Chocolate.
WARNING LEVEL: NONE
This issue of “Spotlight Halal” was written upon the request of a reader who asked us to research Oreo cookies – and for good reason.
We have a Kraft company here in Bahrain. I’ll check with them and inform u guyz what they responsed in this regard.

something may not be halal-certified, but that doesnt mean it automatically isnt halal....just means it has been not been "certified" to be halal by a legitimate organization that verified these things...yet most of the things we eat are not ceritified, the certified items have a halal certified stamp on them [like Campbell's soup has a ISNA halal certified stamp]. If someone says their product isnt halal certified they are just saying that they are not guaranteeing that it is in fact halal.......
