so, I had dyed my hair jet black about 5-6 months ago. I wanted to go lighter lets say to a light brown, so cosmotologist at the store suggested me a color named “Extra light golden brown” from L’oreal preference. She said if I go light brown it’ll give me the effect of a medium brown shade since my hair is so dark. So I did it.
RESULTS: the top of my head is orange and the rest (bottom) of it is black (the color it was before).
So now what? I seriously cannot go out like this, and know going to a salon is an option already. But if i dye over it (lets say a dark brown - medium brown color) will the orange go away? Right now I do not really care about getting a nice hair color, I just want the orange to be gone.
So, I am thinking of dying it over. Will that work?
And I have dyed it yesterday, so, I am going to dye over it either today or wait till tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply.
I dont want to use bleach, used it once and my hair falls out alot now.
I have found a rich medium golden brown by Clairol nice'n easy .. will this be okay ? Or shall I find something darker .. ?
^Can you link to the shade, I will have a look.. Darker would be better tho if you want to cover the orange more easily..
It would be almost impossible to go to light brown from black/dark brown without bleach.. When hair is lightened you have to be super careful.. You need to always use a shampoo and conditioner for colour-treated hair if possible.. I use Tigi Honey + Oatmeal shampoo and conditioner but there are others.. Also deep conditioning treatments and hair masques can keep it healthy and shiny and lessen problems..
Just read that some ppl use lemon juice or beer to lighten their hair lol.. The first one might be an option for those who want to try something different..
