There is a competition war between Oracle and SAP. Oracle has been buying companies left and right (JD Edwards, Peoplesoft, Oblix, Retek, ProfitLogic) and maybe Siebel, BEA Weblogic just to come on par with SAP.
Who will survive SAP or Oracle?

Re: Oracle vs SAP
^ Oracle. It has more Indian staff!
Re: Oracle vs SAP
Both will survive. SAP announced they're adding thousands more in India. Siebel might be the vulnerable one at this point
Re: Oracle vs SAP
From an end user perspective I can tell you that both will stay as both cater to different clients. People using SAP will never settle for something like Oracle. I have been using SAP for six years now and my company has one of the biggest SAP deployment in the world, linking almost 120 countries and almost 250 different locations. I cannot even imagine my life without SAP now, although it seemed such a pain at the begining.
SAP is making loads of of my company and we will continue buying upgrades and pay for support services. Considering the costs involved we cant even think of changing even if a superior product comes to the market.
Re: Oracle vs SAP
What you (ashtray) wrote about SAP is absolutely correct. But same can be said of Oracle also but to slightly smaller degree.
However that difference is made up by the fact that Oracle, in addition the ERP product, also has the premier dbms which hasn't really been challenged at the high end.
Re: Oracle vs SAP
Remember that SAP is not in the database market. It is said that SAP sells more Oracle db licenses than Oracle itself.
The competition is in CRM, Business Intelligence, Human Capital Mgmt and other business ERP software.
Historically Oracle has not done well in products other than DB (exception may be financials)
Re: Oracle vs SAP
oracle will prosper . sap will linger
Re: Oracle vs SAP
Oracle Zindabad! :D
Re: Oracle vs SAP
