To me, it sounds like a support organization for people who need that little Catholic push, if it is something that helps that one person, then it's all good.

There are different classes of membership in Opus Dei:
Numerary members pledge to remain celibate and generally live in Opus Dei houses. I mean it boils down to one's beliefs. They choose to follow whatever they feel makes them closer to God.
