Re: options for VOIP
I use Vonage and I highly recommend it. In last 5 yrs, they dropped my monthly charge or added free countries without any cost. I stared with 35 dollars per month and now paying 25 dollars. DOnt know of any company that keeps adding services while lowering your monthly bill. They just added 80 countries for free (means part of my 25 dollars). No contracts. Good customer support.
Only negative I heard about Vionage is that if you want to cancel the account, they give you hard time (ever tried to cancel AOL membership. Yes that kind of experience) ..
Re: options for VOIP
is pakistan included in the 80 countries?
Sorry, those are 60 countries, and double sorry that Pakistan is not included. But at least you will save money on those 60 countries. Hope you know someone in Romania :p

Re: options for VOIP
Another good thing with Vonage is that you can travel with your router, so if you are visiting your chachi in London just take your router there and hook it up to the internet and start using it from there.
Re: options for VOIP
Only catch with Vonage is (or with any VOIP for that matter) that it requires a pretty good connections speed. At least 4 Mbps
Re: options for VOIP
I kid you not, I've actually used it on my brother's GPRS connection in PK.
Yeah, the quality wasn't the greatest, but it was better than some calling card phone calls that i've done previously.
Re: options for VOIP
If you currently have land line with home security system using that land line, you may want to call them first before getting rid of the traditional phone line. My security company want to charge me $15/month extra to monitor my home over VOIP or Cell.

hardest.....I tried that and was charged $60 even after I cancelled the service but nonetheless they were the best phone company and I would have kept them if my internet service at that time was any better......

My alarm system is thru a VoIP service and they don't charge me anything extra, so it varies. As Asif said look before u leap.
Try Lingo
or
Use Asterisk and make your own PBX and dial into it... :D
I don't know why we never see Pakistan in the list with these sh!tty companies...
Re: options for VOIP
JL, let's u and I start one of those S corps and give service to the honorable PK community?
