Opposition parties refuse to attend PPP APC
LAHORE: **A number of opposition parties have refused to participate in the All Parties Conference (APC) called by PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto. However, they have shown their willingness to participate if invited by SCBA President Aitzaz Ahsan but Benazir Bhutto has rejected the demand. **According to credible sources, Muttahida Majlis-e Amal (MMA) has also supported the idea of All Parties Conference (APC) from the platform of Supreme Court bar Association (SCBA). This suggestion was given by Qazi Hussain Ahmed during a telephonic conversation with Benazir Bhutto. The sources revealed that Benazir Bhutto was of view that Aitzaz Ahsan was under house arrest; therefore, it was not possible to act upon the suggestion. However, Qazi Hussain Ahmed proposed that it is possible to hold APC by leaving the seat of the President of the moot vacant. Benazir Bhutto defended her stance by saying that as PPP was the country’s largest political party therefore it deserved the honour.
After failing to convince PPP, MMA flatly refused to participate in APC chaired by the PPP. Similarly, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandar Yar Wali, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political parties leaders have also refused to participate in APC held under the leadership of PPP.
According to the sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has so far has shown his willingness to participate in PPP sponsored APC.
She has overplayed her hand with the American’s, and the other opposition parties don’t trust her word. BB is physically as well as politically trapped.
