Re: OPKs and BBT monitoring experiences!

Bbt is meant to be monitored first thing in the morning, every morning, for an accurate read. Opk's around mid afternoon, 2 pm or so.

Re: OPKs and BBT monitoring experiences!

why in the afternoon?Just a preference or is it recommended?

Re: OPKs and BBT monitoring experiences!

and do we have to use OPKs at the same time each day?

Re: OPKs and BBT monitoring experiences!

I never tried OPKs, but I used to chart my BBT quite regularly. You have to do it first thing in the morning before you get out of bed, around the same time every day and also after at least about 3 hours of continuous sleep. So if you wake up at different times each day or are constantly waking up at night, it might be a bit difficult, but you just have to find what works for you. I found it easiest to do mine when I got up for Fajr. With charting I was very quickly able to see my ovulation patterns, which were very consistent, so I stopped doing it after a while as I didnt feel the need anymore. There was some website I used to record my temps and other signs on, I think it was fertilityfriend.com, that was really great. If you havent read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, I really really recommend it. I learnt so much from it, about how to read the natural signs from my body for when I am ovulating and when is the best time for TTC. She does also have a section on OPKs in there

Thankyou midnighteyes!
I am also charting it on fajar. It was 97.3 yesterday but today 96.7. Isn't it strange?

and its my CD12!

Re: OPKs and BBT monitoring experiences!

you should sign up to www.tcoyf.com or fertility friend for online tracking- http://www.fertilityfriend.com/

opk’s in the afternoon around 2 because it detects your LH surge and you have to hold your urine for about 4 hours before testing to get an accurate result. plus practically, if you see the surge, its enough time for you to be able to prep to baby dance that evening. and yes, same time every day is recommended. as well, using first morning urine is not an accurate measure of your LH surge.

this is a great resource- http://www.peeonastick.com/opkfaq.html
