I would like PEW to ask another question to those 59% Pakistanis who view the US unfavourably: How many of them would still want to permanently settle in the US despite rating it negatively?

Agree. I know a distant cousin of mine whose family moved here recently. His dad constantly say horrible things about US (how people/environment are terrible, blah blah and wish he could go back) but is still here for the last 4 yrs and refused to go back to Pak when asked to accompany his wife and son who were making the trip. Hypocrisy at its best

Why is this “hypocrisy”? People at large oppose/criticize US behavior/actions in regards to different countries/events in world (Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, East Timor etc.) so that is why they have ‘unfavorable’ opinion, but at same time US provides a reasonable, secure, respectable life to its own citizens hence people wanting to immigrate there.
