I would like PEW to ask another question to those 59% Pakistanis who view the US unfavourably: How many of them would still want to permanently settle in the US despite rating it negatively?

Agree. I know a distant cousin of mine whose family moved here recently. His dad constantly say horrible things about US (how people/environment are terrible, blah blah and wish he could go back) but is still here for the last 4 yrs and refused to go back to Pak when asked to accompany his wife and son who were making the trip. Hypocrisy at its best

it all depends who you ask the question. for instance, India has only 6% unfavorable opinion towards the US...ask Indian Muslims [due to their unqualified bias/hatred of the US], i'm sure that rating will surprisingly jump to >75% and out of those numbers most likely 100% would do anything [even sell their zameer] to immigrate to the 'land of opportunity' and to live American Dream <5% enjoy this claim]'

Why is this "hypocrisy"? People at large oppose/criticize US behavior/actions in regards to different countries/events in world (Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, East Timor etc.) so that is why they have 'unfavorable' opinion, but at same time US provides a reasonable, secure, respectable life to its own citizens hence people wanting to immigrate there.

Its ok to like the US, and its people but that does not mean that you have to like the US foreign policies as well, or like any wrongdoing of the US.

Oh look, 47% for Germans. Now what? Should America bomb Berlin or stop offering visas to Germans? What did US do to the Germans, if it wasn't for Americans, Germany would've gone down on the world map as another province of France and Poland. I reckon they don't like American humour that's why, but still, them thankless Germans. But good the thing is that Germans are white, have blond hair and they speak very good German so that basically means they are allowed to have an opinion on US even though US has apparently done them no wrong.
Allow the Germans man, let's pick on Pakistanis and Arabs.

Why worry about people picking on Arabs? Arabs pick on others will their ridiculous laws. They should not scream racism about anything when in most Arab countries non Arabs cannot get citizenship and non-Arab men cannot marry Arab women.
Why not UK? I find it interesting how UK has more negative perception than Bangladeshis. Malaysians and Indonesians have a more positive perception than Germans. So US should have more immigrants from these countries.

And slavery at its best is don't even say a word on gaza killings. we can see how many of living in west have openly criticized US for its policies, on this forum.
