I denounce this restriction on the freedom of speech as much as I do the US administration's attempt to restrict free speech based on accusations of 'unpatriotic'. I

f this type of free speech is not allowed in Muslim societies, fine. But they cannot dictate what constitutes free speech in free societies. ESPECIALLY out of fear of violence. If the head of Christ is allowed to be displayed under law, so is the head of any religious figure.

Bad laws are bad laws...can't do much about that.

But the point is, so long as the reaction is done within the boundries of the law, and protesting and expressing anger is exactly that...even threatening a boycott (afterall, what use is freedom of speech without freedom to act on it in lawful ways), then so be it.

Free speech has consequences, not neccessarily local. So if those who want to self-censor (and that's not at all a bad thing) for sake of not offending or not having to deal with the blowback, more power to them.

Yes, as long as it is done within the boundaries of the law, by all means, protest all you want. Even if it is trying to implement a foreign culture in a free society. It is still within the law.

But if there is self-censorship because of the fear of violence, it is NOT legal or acceptable.

Perhaps you should do some home work, start with Macalester College religious studies professor James W. Laine and his book on Shiva that provoked violent outbursts by hindus.

Perhaps YOU should check your facts and complete your home work!
Laine wrote a controversial book on Shivaji (a Maratha king who fought against the Mughals).............. not about Shiva. The protests had nothing to do with religion.

Thats incidental....Shivaji will evoke no emotions among Hindus anywhere else in India (other than in Maharashtra - they see him as their hero etc etc...)

This isnt out of respect for Muslims.. The director or producer of the play said it was due to FEARS that it could lead to a Muslim backlash that would put the crew at risk...

right so when you have muslims rioting you dont see all 1 billion of them. you see a certain group usually in certain countries..

the point being that many groups have violent protests, be it along racial, national, sectarian lines etc.

Christians are bearing the biggest fun by MUslims. See the very basic christian pillar of belief is that Jesus is the son of god,crucified for the sin of mankind , ressurected and will come back. Muslims made jesus a prophet ie just like Mohemmed. This is the deadliest insult to christianity and they are bearing it . They are not terrorising the world just because somebody is telling that thier god is just like an ordinary man.

  Remember muslims are attacking the very funda of christianity!!!!
