Openers & one-down...WHO???

With every passing game, it is becoming clear that we have lost the punch our pinch-hitters used to have. And even down one number, we are totally clueless. Saeed is not in a good shape for quite a long time and Afridi can not be taken seriously anyway. So if we lose, as often we do, Afridi in a first couple of overs, our run-rate goes all the notches down. The number three batsman can not be expected to take up the charge since there isn’t anybody specialist. This scenario gets worst given the fact that we are in no position to expect anything remarkable from Saeed these days.

So what you guyes think what should be our best bets for top three slots???

Mine is:
1= Shahid Afridi
2= Imran Nazir
3= Saeed Anwar

If some goes early from the openers, Saeed is no more aggressive and playing very defensive anyway. To me, it will do.

afridi should open in odi's. tests i donno because i am not watching games these days.

I don’t understand the point of playing Saeed as onedown … why we need to hide him? . .if he is not good enough let him go .. he needs no pity or hiding from opposition’s opening bowlers.. he did well enough in his career .. his knee injury has slowed his reflexes .. rather than foot movement he often uses his wrist and hangs his bat on the off-side delivery (he has this weakness before but its more obvious now) . playing him on no3 spot wont resolve anything … As far as Afrdi being an opener that’s not even funny any more .. after 120+ matches he has an average around 25 runs ! that is simply pathetic .. He is not a batsman to begin with he is a slugger and he never tried to improve on his batting .. even Nepal’s national cricket team could set a trap to get his wicket .. its easy ! .. for one days Razak or Azhar are good fit for onedown they have a good temperament for the game … but we desperately need some openers and consistency .. Imran Nazir is such a disappointment the guy has not improved a bit .. new guys need to prove their caliber to get this position .. so far its been a disappointing run .. Elahi is a nervous wreck, others are going thru PCB revolving door policy .. this is the most important position in the team . a good start can lead to good total early wickets puts pressure and much of the inning is spent in recovering under pressure .. similarly when chasing early wickets puts the other team in control and we end up playing a catch up game …

Hey one more thing
These things are hard to explain
For some it seems strange... to swallow
The frontier of our minds
Is the last place we find
But maybe the first place we should go
