Open university

and distance studies, what kind of scope do they have as to regular studies?

Re: Open university

Well the fact that you dont have to be in the classroom or on the campus seems like a pretty good idea. No hassles.

However, I dont think one can learn as much with distance studies compared to in class lectures and so on. Its a lot different having the the proff and other students to work with.

What are you planning to study?

Re: Open university

The answer is really quite relative and would be based on one’s situation… if it is a career building move for a middle management person who is working full time, it will most definitely be looked upon very commendably by his/her peers and boss.

On the other hand, if I run into a twenty four year old person who’s pursuing an online degree, I would have my doubts about his/her potential and why they’re not studying at a regular University.

Finally, a lot of regular universities do offer continuing education courses through their distance education wing and there’s no harm whatsoever in enrolling in those… often the course content is the same as their regular classes and also taught by the same instructors.

However, you do lose on the dynamic aspect of education as MQ said… and I wouldn’t recommend this route if there was another viable option.

Re: Open university

Thanks MQ and Umar for the response. I was thinking I might not even get any.

Well I asked as someone is looking for the option of going for an open university degree and I got curious and logged on their site to get info. Its not an option for me right now as I'm working fulltime and have no spare time to continue studies right now. And it doesnt appeal to me, I need real professors, students to do any kind of studies.
MQ, I am interested in finance and business.
