No, we aren't forcing anyone to take this job but we should not be supporting other muslims to do forbidden acts. Pakistani government should not allow any muslim to do work in a brewery or in any other place where they serve alcohol. Nor government should make any money out of it.

I am niether supporting not preventing ppl from working there. I support the right of the manufaturer to make, and sell, and of people to buy.

if u want him to employ all non muslims, then so be it, but that is not the manufacturers problem. lobby govt to make a law that barrs muslims from working in brewries.

I shouldn't have to teach you history, but all and sundry knows what state Pakistan was in prior to Zia...you may get cheap thrills about Pakistan's alleged liberal past (albeit restricted to an almost insignificant portion of the population, and the most insignificant accomplishments...like producing alcohol), but it's just plain inaccurate to blame Zia for it's current state of affairs.

The point is that even during Zia's period of 'islamization' alcohol was available. So when ppl talk about current regime, they ned to go back and find out how things were. Alcohol was freely available in BB and Nawaz era also.

if all and sundry know what state pakistan was in before zia's era then surely they are not acknowledging it.

...who is asking you to serve it, sell it, buy it, carry it, have it carried to them, brew it, have it brewed or consume its price?

let some dude who is not muslim brew it, sell it, and someone who is not muslim consume it.

Holy Quran has clearly stated dire punishment for adultery, homosexuality, bigotry, back0biting, depriving orphans, widows and the destitutes of their rights, yet all these practices flourish in the entire Muslim world.

No where does the Quran state punishment for drinking and intoxication, it is a undesirable act and discouraged but there are no punishments prescribed.

Now here we are talking about an activity for non-muslims that caters to non-muslims only. Give it a break, those living in glass houses should be very careful when they throw stones.

Punishment for Smoking and Drinking Alcohol
As for drinking alcohol, there is a specific Hadd for that. In the early days of Islam, people who had stopped drinking prohibited others and those who committed the offence were lashed 40 times. They use to flail the drinker with anything that came to hand - a piece of cloth, a shoe, a stick - just to let the person feel that he or she had indulged in something prohibited. Later on when there was a complaint that people were returning to the old ways of drinking, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) consulted the Muslims around, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I think that drinking will make a person lose his mind and consequently start abusing others, uttering false accusations against them. So I think he deserves the same punishment for a person who falsely accuses other persons (Qadhif) that is 80 lashes.” Henceforth, that became the standard of punishment for drinkers to stop them from falling into that."

Why would the isalmic republic allow production of whiskey? I personally know no muslims who drink alcohol except my friend Gul and Jabbar and Mehmood and Nigat and Feroz and Fadi and … oh well just too many to remember.

Sugar can save the life of a hypoglycemic diabetic.

Salt is essential for life. But i am all for regualting on harmful products.

And you cannot equate sugar with alcohol, that isn’t best of arguments. Sugar does not make drivers kill pedestrians.

Are all the bad drivers drunk? I seriously doubt that. I think there are more sober bad drivers.
