could someone please guide me through it ![]()
no i dont own a credit card ![]()
You could use paypal at many online stores. I know you can do it without a credit card but I don't know the details of that. Another option is to ask your parents (or anyone else you know who has one) to let you use their credit card.

farrah, if you dont have a creditcard,
mere khayal se paying with iDeal is much easier
Re: online purchases
hi Dil!!! whats iDeal? have you ever used it?
when are we meeting again? :D
plus ... how do you know if a website is trustworty ... annnnnd if you are going to purchase something online ... say clothes ... then how do you know if it fits right? is it normal to send it back? or do you order 2 or 3 sizes, and send the wrong ones back? is the refund a brain-ki-dahi kind of task?
Yes i pay through iDeal all the time.
Do you have internetbanking? If yes, then with your bankcard you can pay through iDeal, bahot asaan hai.
You have ABN amro na?
How to know whether a website is trustworthy? ![]()
look at the references.
I ordered something online last week. They delivered it within 24 hrs.
Good service.
Big order companies such as Wehkamp and Esprit are trustfull. I have good experience with Wehkamp and Esprit.
lol, no refund is not a brain ki dahi wala task. I have never had bad experiences. my brother orders online all the time from esprit and he does refund stuff back also, lekin kabhi koi masla nai banna.
And we will meet whenever you want ![]()

Re: online purchases
If you live in Pakistan then you can simply buy a UBL wiz debit card (no account needed with them) and use it on internet without any problems. Be sure to get their Teen Internet card which is ready to use on internet. Otherwise you'll have to call them to activate session whenever you want to use it online which costs 100 Rs per session.
Re: online purchases
nope, not in Pak ... :(
why is credit card such a major annoyance!!!
Paypal lets u make payments from ur bank account but dunno if it's obligatory to have a credit/debit card registered with them as well..
Farrah, u should look for the little padlock sign when u checkout at the bottom right of the screen to know the site is secure to make payments..
No do you do not have to have a CC to open a PayPal account.
You can read the reviews about a website at BBB site and other forums which have feedback on many sites. Just google name of the site and keyword scam or reviews and you will be able to find out how good or bad that website is. If a website has no reviews or no information about them , then you have to see can you afford to lose the money you are paying them , if they do not deliver.
Make sure that the company has an actual physical address and a phone number to call if you do not receive your item.
Some detials:
Here are ways to check if a website is indeed legitimate.
Check the Contact Information VS Whois Information
Any decent website would definitely have a contact page with company address and contact numbers. Check the informations using a whois search if they match. Most of the time, fraudulent websites state that their company resides in the US but has a different story when checked in the domain whois.
Check the Age of the Website
A several month old website is more likely to be a scam site, although not all of them are. Because of this uncertainty, I only use the age of domain as an additional information in deciding whether the site is legitimate or not.
Check How Long is the Domain Name Registered
Do a quick domain lookup. Websites that plan to stay long in the business registers their domain names several years in advance. If the domain name is registered for only a year, I’d already have my doubts.
Check the Neighbors of the Website
Do a quick IP search to check the hosting neighbors of the website. Most fraudulent websites are in a shared IP address. If the neighbors sounds fishy or looks spammy, I won’t risk dealing with the site.
Ask Websites Associated with the One You Are Checking
Most people would ask around forums on whether a site could be trusted or not. The problem with this is you are asking for other people’s opinion. Opinions help but doesn’t really answer.
What you want is to contact websites associated with the company like it’s web hosts or site partners. This way, you are asking a person with the knowledge to answer you back with confidence.
Look at Reviews or Customer Feedbacks
This can only be done if the website does have reviews or show customer feedbacks. If not, you can contact the customers personally. Ask the customers about their experience with the company. ? How long have they been a member?
Re: online purchases
You can also use MoneyBookers. Its similar to Paypal and also accepted at various merchants online.
Re: online purchases
Farah, I would not trust any other payment services but paypal, since it's been approved by the government as well, and you don't have to have credit cards to be a member - All you need is your banking information and you are good to go.. plus, how many sellers know or deal with IDeal? This is the first time I have heard of it, so better stick with something that's is safe, authentic and accessible.
Re: online purchases
Paypal apparently is the giant for online payments .... i didnt know that a credit card isnt needed ...
anyhow .. as for IDeal ... well that apparently is unique for the dutch community ... and is consequently for dutch websites only ... if i've understood well .. and that's where i am :D ... but if Paypal doesnt need cc ... then i guess thats good :D ... thanx for the info MC
Re: online purchases
Farrah, wire me the cash and I will use my credit card to buy you whatever you wanted to buy.
