My friend and me were discussing about creating an online memorial for a friend who recently passed away. This concept is new to me and I was quite surprised to see a plethora of sites which does this. How comfortable would you be in creating an online memorial for a dear relative who has passed away.

I am not for making memorials for people.
They are passed on, no point trying to hold on to them in physical world.
What ever is in heart it good.

a fone call, a visit, a hand written letter of condolence is much better than to have an online obituary, IMO. the loved ones of the deceased will appreciate it more.

True, but in another aspect these notes would be lost. An online memorial can help children what kind of life their parents led and it can be emotional to read these condolence messages after say 5-10 years. Also it can serve as a repository for the pictures and the like.
