Re: one year birthday ideas

google it
i dunno about unique, but all kids love good candy/chocolate/toys. Maybe a pinata you can help your son break. Depending on your budget and weather, you can have pony rides...a clown...an entertainer? I went to this b-day where my aunti got a cheesy magician..but the kids loved him. With so many kids invited, i would opt for simple finger foods/sandwiches for them, including fruit, chocolate milk, juices.....simple stuff..pizza...chicken...etc...nothing too fancy.

maybe you could do a theme like a disney movie, under the sea decorations for find nemo and stuff like that? i haven't really watched disney movies in a while but there is probably something new out there.

Re: one year birthday ideas

I can never understand the hoopla over first birthdays...

Wait till he is able to understand what is going on and kind of effort you are putting into it...

If its a mickey mouse or sesame street theme, is it really going to make any difference?

Anyway, good luck.

it's more for the parents not for the kids.

Re: one year birthday ideas

heyy parents get happy doing something for the kid. the kid will look back at the albums and feel special i always do.

Re: one year birthday ideas

But I do agree, that your better off to wait till baby is old enough to understand and like all the special stuff around him....
from my experience, baby was just overwhelmed with all the people...esp when they were all watching for the cake cutting, and he was just crying....poor thing.....evenn though i tried to minimize the guests as much as possible.

I know it sounds crazy when u really wanna throw a party, but maybe put all the party money towards his savings account.

Re: one year birthday ideas

well wouldnt it be during ramzan? the only thing you can really do then is iftaar party

Re: one year birthday ideas

no its after ramzan.

When it comes to kids, its about quantity and never about quality. So be sure to have quantity and as far my suggestions, here they are:
1. Buy balloons for all the kids. They are cheap and yet the most fascinating thing in our childhood.
2. Call all the teenagers you know or who are attending the party and see if someone would be up for being a clown. I know I would do it in a heartbeat for kids :)
3. Those teenagers, who don't want to become a clown, give them an option to be the magician. If you have two or more, don't worry, think of it as more magic tricks.
4. Those who don't want to be either, ask them to dress as some super-hero i.e. superman, batman, hulk, etc.
5. Music, Music, Music. And you'll make them dance.
6. Please don't forget ice-cream with cones.
7. Games and Competitions, the winner gets a prize.
8. Lots of sweets, candies, colorful cupcakes. It won't hurt kids to be sugar high for a day.
9. Make sure you have other adults or teenagers who can take responsibility for certain things. In other words, distribute the responsibilities, otherwise, you'll be overwhelmed.

That's all I remember form my childhood. And Happy Birthday to Rayan in advance.

Re: one year birthday ideas

my son's first birthday is next month..i find no point in having a birthday party to amuse grown-ups..we have dinners, etc for them!i am planning a studio photo-shoot of the baby and will be sacrificing goats for his sadqa InshaAllah.
