I don't remember the song.... do you remember the skit they put it in? I know they used couple of famous English songs of that time in different skits... Remember the one with Ismail Tara twisting in halwai ki karahi? That was so good.
Ghalib Yar, I remember that song. I can’t recall what the band was, but it goes like this:
One way ticket to the Blues!!!
Chocho train, chugging down the track, something……never comin back..ooo oo, one way ticket to the blues..
You must also remember:
Video killed the Radio Stars (buggles), Call me (Blondie), Funkey Town (Lipps), Please don’t go (KC and the Sunshine Band), Working my way back to you babe (spinners) and tons more.
Man.. I thought I was the only 80’s child in here.
NYA yaar, I some of the songs sound familiar... but can't put the skits with them... speaking of 50/50 does anybody know if there are video tapes etc available in the market of the show?
It would great if I could find some... in johnd's words, paisa paani ki tarah baha dooN ga!
Roman u can still get one way ticket in Pakistan. I heard a shop blast it at full volume at that underground market around cooperative in Karachi.
For some odd reason the name "ottawan" pops to my mind and that may be the band that sang it, i know they had a number of hits around then including "hands up"
does anyone rememeber the spoof of one way ticket which was One day cricket? :)
Fraud Yar.. I remember Ismail Tara, and his gang and all of 50/50 stuff. They were brilliant.
You have Sharam Ka Ghata, telling me that I was Jawan in the 80’s. I became a “man” in 1985, and my “one way” was with this Mutyar from Cambridge. Before that, I was just a boy. In heart I am (I wish) a child of the 60’s. Jimmy Handrix is prophet to me. Woodstock is my Haj, and the rest is all a one big drag. Playing shirtless in the mud appeals to me and I dream of Jennie (the girl I knew back in the early 80’s).
Cool Ali... I just got cable modem today (haven't tried it yet, have to install the ethernet card first) and I guess it would be a good idea to check out the speed by watching the 50/50 skits!
The song was One Way Ticket to the Blues...
And its sung by Eruption.
"choo choo train, chucking down the track,
got a feeling I'll be never coming back oo o
got a one way ticket to the blues.
Bye bye love, my baby's leaving me
*******tear drops, are all that i can see..oo oo
got a one way ticket to the blues,
I remember a skit about this song in the comedy show fifty fifty..where the actor is apparently dancing to this song, and it turns out that hes twisting his feet while kneading flour with his feet.
Oh so then we were talking about the same skit then! I just couldn't remember the song... thanks for the offer, I actually more interested in video skits... For the audio CD, I will get it myself. Thanks again.
i remember going to a show when i was a kid, and a brown group was singing this song...but i always thought it was one way ticket to the zoo....at least thats what i remembered hearing.
Thanks yar for the offer. I have an Indian colleague who lives in Chicago and travels back on forth for the project. He can very easily get the tapes for me as he goes to desi stores for his grocery shopping etc. Can you let me know the name of the shop/store from where he can check it? It would be some shop on Devon street, right?
