One unit policy

I was being a bit sarcastic. but you know the popular theory, everyone is victim of punjab.

Ghandi asked goras to implement one unit policy because he was afraid as if all the states were allowed to choose independance India would split into several independant states. So as a result of one unit policy implementation, states had to join either Pakistan or India.

I agree that one unit policy was blunder, but you atleast should agree that Sindh was not ready to join, listening to qaum parast leaders.

So you mean Sindh was asked to dissolve their identity, shift their culture, and forget their history but Punjab and NWFP were spared?

Re: One unit policy

One unit was a blunder. East Pakistan had more population than West Pakistan, to bring them more at par this policy was adapted.

Re: One unit policy

I've already stated that I've not studied the matter, but the kind of agitation it faced in Sindh from all groups of society can't be brushed under the carpet by just labeling all people 'qaum parast' in negative sense who agitated against it. If Sindh didn't have any reservation, still the one-unit was simply a dishonest move to usurp rights of majority (Bengalis).

Re: One unit policy

who says one unit policy was not a blunder.
making excuses like, i was jumping over and was so excited to join pakistan but thekedar of pakistan made me resist is not an honest attitude.

Re: One unit policy

So what did the policy entail? I understand it was implemented to offset the population weight of East Pakistan but what was it really policing? I know I should Google but just tell me. Thanks.
