One trivial act matters a lot in deciding our destination

I went to listen to a great scholar who explained a heart breaking incident. He said that one of his colleagues was on his death bed (he didn’t mentioned any name). Being a pious person he and his friends knew that it would be easy for him to recite ‘kalima’ before dying but he remained quiet while his eyes were closed. After sometime he started speaking in a painful low voice, " Please pray for me, as one of my sins is preventing me from reciting Kalima"

We all know that one good deed can lead to heaven but one bad deed which we consider trivial might become a problem for us because no matter how trivial a sin might seem to us, what actually matters is the ALMIGHTY whom we are disobeying. We also know the hadith that reciting kalima at the time of death leads straight to Heaven.

Let us consider in that person’s own words what he said before he died:

“Once a beautiful woman came to my shop to buy few things. For few minutes I kept staring at her with a lustful gaze. This sin lead to unhappiness of Allah (Swt) and I didn’t repent my sin. This sin is now not allowing me to recite Kalima”

Was that a trivial sin ? May be we should ask from the husband, brother, son and father of that woman who was being stared at

May Allah (swt) forgive all our sins and help us in sincerely beginning a new life with least possible disobedience of Allah (swt) to our best ability, by the grace and mercy of Allah (swt)
