Someone told me that in one cricket match between Pakistan & india waseem akram cought behind out one of indian batsman ( i think his name was Siri kaant ) and Impire gave him out as well, but batsman was not agreed that ball touched the bat
Waseem akram asked him to play again and on next ball he again dismissed him.
is it true, if yes can someone give me detail of it…
You got name of the batsman right but bowler was Aaqib Javed. Imran khan, then captain of pakistan called back srikanth when he was walking back shaking his head and Aaqib dismissed him the next ball.
it was back in 1989 series when Srikanth was given lbw out and as soon as the umpire's finger went up he started shaking his head and whinning like a little girl. Khan sahib called him back while he was going back to pavillion and he was bowled on the next ball. However If I remember correctly the bowler was Akram.
Under normal circumstances it's not a good thing to argue with Saby or he will present evidence from under the surface of earth to prove his point ;) but in this case if I recall correctly the bowler was Akram, Srikanth was given LBW and he raised his bat to the umpire indicating that he had touched the ball before it hit the pads, Imran called him back and he was gone next ball.
'Everyone seems to relate this to Tendulkar's dismissal. But no one gives former Pakistan captain Imran Khan the credit during the 1989 series: the touring Indian captain Srikanth was adjudged lbw by the umpire and he showed his dissent. Imran then had him called back and he was clean bowled next ball - that is the spirit of the game.'
I very clearly remember it was Wasim Akram. He got him LBW, but SriKanth showed his bat to umpire that it was bat and pad, and hesitantly started walking back to pavillian, I was watching, and while he was walking back, he was keep looking back at Umpire and pitch. Half way to the boundry, The Great Imran Khan offered him to come back and play, and that honorless Sri Kanth, accepted the offer and came back. Very next ball Wasim Yorked him, and was clean bowled. And then he walked back like a scared deer in flood lights.
