Guys, I know back in the 80’s there used to be seperate photographers from both the bride and the groom’s sides but back then there was no concept of the bride and groom photosessions. Nowadays, both me and my in laws are hiring seperate photographers. Now will I have to go through two bride and groom portrait sessions? One by my photographer and the other by their photographer? It’s a bit confusing.

Yes you have to go through two photo sessions.
Re: One photographer or two photographers?
Can't you just hire more people that work under the same label? That way you don't have to go through multiple sessions but it will ensure that everything/everyone gets covered. You could have 1 person focusing on the groom side, 1 on the bride side and 1 on the couple or something
Re: One photographer or two photographers?
Hire the same people. Ask to split the cost rather than two different photographers.
Thats how we do it at least. Both sides split costs and photo/video team traveled to each of the cities and states with us.
Congrats and good luck!!

YEah but the thing is, my mom in law wants to hire a old school photographer and I want to hire a new trendy one so a cost split is out of the question :(

Re: One photographer or two photographers?
Do you want two portrait sessions? If not, why not discuss with the photographers and pick one to go with for the portraits? Perhaps you can negotiate a little on price. Or get one to do the portrait session before another gathering soon after you wedding.
Re: One photographer or two photographers?
Take one photographer and let him direct his team.
