GUWAHATI: Separatists in India’s north-eastern Assam state struck for the third straight day on Friday, killing a civilian and injuring 19 other people in two separate grenade attacks, officials said.

The militants, who were riding a motorcycle, lobbed a grenade into a crowded street in the heart of Assam’s main city of Guwahati minutes after Assam Governor Ajai Singh’s convoy passed the area, said a police spokesman…

In a separate attack, rebels threw a grenade inside a shop in eastern Assam’s Sivasagar district, 360 kilometres from Guwahati, injuring at least 11 civilians, a police spokesman said. Militants from the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) have claimed responsibility for the nearly two dozens explosions since Wednesday in various parts of the state. “We shall continue with the attacks until such time the government of India responds positively to our offer for talks,” an ULFA statement said. ULFA, which is fighting for an independent Assamese homeland since 1979, want talks centred around their demand for sovereignty or independence. afp

So many thousands of innocent Christians have been murdered and burnt alive by Hindu Extremist in Assam… when will it click to the successive Hindu Governments that their 13,000-years-old extreme Hindu laws are not accepted by the minorities and they don’t want them to be forced onto them.

The hindu Raj of today in india is in many ways no different from the British Raj.

They both subjugated the local population against their will and were tyrants. Atleast the British raj was far better for the minorities who were not the elite upper-caste hindus such as muslims, sikhs, christians, dalits, assamese, tamils etc!!

You guys dont know $hit of what you are talking about (SC, just like all the jews and Taoist of Pakistan were massacred, the christians were by the 'Hindu extremists'). ULFA started as a movement to stop non-Assamese from taking jobs away from Assamese, also they were against the increasingly encroaching Bangladeshi population in Assam. But since the ULFA leaders have fled to Bangladesh, they have no ideology or direction but now just create mayhem. ULFA which had the popular backing initially is now hated by most of Assamese themselves.
