One inspiring quote everyday

Religion being a tool for upliftment of man, how about posting a inspiring quote everyday to make the day better. The quote for the day

Can you weep for God with intense longing of heart? Men shed a jugful of tears for the sake of their children, for their wives, or for money. But who weeps for God? So long as the child remains engrossed with its toys, the mother looks after her cooking and other household duties. But when the child no longer relishes the toys, it throws them aside and yells for its mother. Then the mother puts the rice pot down from the hearth, runs in haste, and takes the child in her arms.

Shri Ramakrishna

^ I had the same idea. :)

I would like to quote something from Rabindranath Tagore's "Gitanjali". It is basically a compilation of poems addressed by the poet to God. I have read only a few yet, but they moved me greatly. I hope others here also enjoy it. Here are three small poems, somewhat related to each other:

My desires are many and my cry is pitiful, but ever didst thou save me by hard refusals; and this strong mercy has been wrought into my life through and through.

Day by day thou art making me worthy of the simple, great gifts that thou gavest to me unasked---this sky and the light, this body and the life and the mind---saving me from perils of overmuch desire.

There are times when I languidly linger and times when I awaken and hurry in search of my goal; but cruelly thou hidest thyself from before me.

Day by day thou art making me worthy of thy full acceptance by refusing me ever and anon, saving me from perils of weak, uncertain desire.

I am here to sing thee songs. In this hall of thine I have a corner seat.

In thy world I have no work to do; my useless life can only break out in tunes without a purpose.

When the hour strikes for thy silent worship at the dark temple of midnight, command me, my master, to stand before thee to sing.

When in the morning air the golden harp is tuned, honour me, commanding my presence.

I have had my invitation to this world's festival, and thus my life has been blessed. My eyes have seen and my ears have heard.

It was my part at this feast to play upon my instrument, and I have done all I could.

Now, I ask, has the time come at last when I may go in and see thy face and offer thee my silent salutation?

“truly in the heart there is a void that cannot be removed except with the company of
<I_I_II :swt:. And in it there is a sadness that cannot be removed except with the happiness of knowing <I_I_II :swt: and being true to Him. And in it there is an emptiness that cannot be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him. and if a person were given all the world and what is in it, it would not fill this happiness.”

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny” - Imam Abdullah ibn Malik

Can you weep for God with intense longing of heart?
[/QUOTE]

Never would I cry for God, I would cry to God but never for. My God is strong and doesn't need weaklings to cry for him. My God rather would see humans cry to him for mercy and for other materialistic things that humans want.
You want to weep for god with intense longing of heart, pick a prayer rug and bow down say
"La ilaha il-allah muhammad-ar- rasul-allah" followed by sura ikhlas

"Qul-o- allah-husamad, lam ya lid walum yu lad wa-lam ya qul -a hu qufohun a ahad"

Mods please correct my arabic -english translation to avoid anger from muslim conservatives (it is not my intention to anger a few but I live by the two above mentioned verses).

"The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to Allah can stand up to anything."
I love this quote. Don't know who said that or where it is from but It's great. That's why I've set it as my signature.
