There has been an instance when Salim Malik batted with one hand [to save a test match] I remember it happened in Faisalabad…any1 have the video ?

I still remember that match. It was the first test match of Pakistan vs WI series in 1986. I think it was marshall who fractured his left forearm. By the way that was the series when KALU DEEWANAY song became a hit. Anyways still remember that match when akram made his first test 50, hitting 2 sixes, one of patterson and other i guess on harper. Malik with a plaster came to join after the dismissal of tauseef ahmed in the 3rd innings and allowed akram to add 30+ runs for th final wicket partership. I don’t know what people say about malik but that valiant display has etched to our memories forever and became a symbol of courage. Abdul qadir magic was on top in the final innings when WI were toppled for 53 runs chasing a target of 240 something.

That was one courageous show by Malik. He made only 3 but played 30 balls that allowed Akram to blast away and set up a daunting target on a turning pitch.

It was the first one. Second was at lahore where WI beat us by an inning and some runs. Third at karachi where pakistani maintained their undefeated record at karachi. However they almost lost that match chasing a target of 200+ runs in the final innings. They lost 7 wickets under 100 runs and then Imran khan and tauseef batted till the end for 10 overs to manage a draw.

yes i remember that match very well.. Malik came to bat with 1 hand and even played a super cover drive with just one hand.. but more importantly stayed there while akram was increasing runs.. West Indies were then bowled out for 53 chasing 286 to win.. Malik played so many great innings throughout his career but sadly most people now remember him as a match fixer rather than one of the greatest paki batsmen..

malik was indeed a fine cricketer. even when he was a captain in around 94/95 the team played well i guess he was the kaaptaaan when inzi and mushi combined against the aussie in khi to beat them. too bad the match fixing thing happened and he was found guilty

I remember the one-handed Malik in the 1992 World Cup. In almost every innings he played he got out playing one-handed shot in the covers.

During the mid 70's in a match against West Indies in Pakistan both Sadiq Mohammed and the late Wasim Raja were injured. Sadiq had a broken jaw and Wasim a broken ankle, Pakistan were losing wickets fast on the last day and in the end both Sadiq and Raja batted for quite sometime to save the match with the severe injuries they had. Both were given Rs 25,000 each by the than PM Bhutto.
