One Dollar Curry

Being described as a crossover film for both Indian audience and the mainstream audiences in Europe and America, ‘One Dollar Curry’ is about an Indian Sikh named Nishan who takes political refuge in Paris. He comes to the French capital with nothing but just his genuine sense of humor and few bottles of oil called ‘The Kamasutra Nandi Bull Oil’.

While reflecting about his prospects of survival, Nishan is overwhelmed by the new world around him and the creative skills of his new friends – Fixer (Trevor Stephens) and Bale (Lakshan Abenayake), who sell aphrodisiacs, give tantra massages and edit a local paper ‘The Kamasutra Times.’

Helped by his friends, Nishan starts a cheap Indian food outlet and soon becomes a self-proclaimed ‘Maharaja of Indian cuisine’. He then starts his kitchen on wheels called ‘One Dollar Curry’ with his inventive chicken curry and eccentric look.

He then meets a young television journalist, Nathalie (Gabriella Wright) who is working on a documentary on immigration. She plans to make a documentary on Nishan in order to cement her own job in her TV company.

The two set out to present a perfect story to producer Francoise (Benoit Soles) and in the process develop feelings for each other. That is when Nishan’s fiancée Yamini (Smriti Mishra) arrives in Paris setting off a chain of hurdles.

A love triangle takes shape in which Nishan tries to desperately save his chef’s job with his tireless imagination.
