I"m going to a one-dish party in a couple of days and I need some ideas of what to make/bring (No dessert…appetizer or main dish)…the main issue is that ill be travelling by public transportation so I dont want something too heavy or difficult to carry.
Also it will be about 10-15 ladies (I think–will confirm with the host)…so I need ideas on how many quantities to make as well.
Re: One Dish party
hmm some good appetizer options would be chana chaat, chicken sandwiches, samosas...for main dish something dry like spaghetti/macaroni??
Re: One Dish party
mm chana chaat/dahi bhalay..
keep em comin folks
Re: One Dish party
Take kababs Sara. They are easy to make, easy to carry. Your tandoori chicken looked good too. You can make that even.
Re: One Dish party
^ For tandoori chicken...how many pieces would I need to make so its enough?
Re: One Dish party
I would think if you bake a full tray.. the big one .. could do maybe 25 pieces. You don't have to take it in the tray. Get a nice big plastic container. Cut some onions in ring shape, decorate it on top when you go there. You can also take raita in a small box if you want.
Re: One Dish party
Samosas
Chaat but then you need to worry about condiments too like papri, onions, tomatoes, etc.
Tandoori chicken
Baked chicken on skewers
Egg rolls
Chicken salad sandwiches - take the filling and bread separately and put them together when you get there. Go a little early.
Chicken wings
Spinach dip and tortilla chips
Chicken tenders
Re: One Dish party
chicken salad sandwiches are the best for one dishes, how about soup?
