Re: Shoaib Akhtar leaves wonderful impression on Worcestershire
Mr LahoriMunda: Kindly read what Mr Tully has quoted above. This is Cricket, not Martha Stewart. We want a cricketer not a ‘nice’ and ‘likeable’ person. Shoaib Akhtar can be an asshole of a person off field for all anybody cares.. as long as he performs on the field. Which he obviously is not.
Waisay i am wondering kay lotay ko pakr kar kyon rakha hay? Use the lota to wash your rear end since you have not realized yet kay aap kee already gandi ho gie hay and its stinking since the last month when shoaib performed in the Afro Asia cup and when he was selected for the superseries ODI and test squad (BTW the only paki). Pora forum paleed kar rkha hay tum nay:D
Re: Shoaib Akhtar leaves wonderful impression on Worcestershire
I dont think the following is written about his off field behavior
“My abiding memory would still be that day when he won us the match against Gloucestershire. Probably no other bowler in the world could have produced that.”
Why pick and choose whatever you want to read from the article. Read my first post about it again, all I pointed out was that it’s not just all bad written about Shoaib. He was praised in that article as well. On the one hand he was the worst overseas player ever signed by the club and on the other hand one of his performances was such that no other bowler could have produced that. I am neither a big fan of Shoaib nor a big critic. Whatever is good for Pakistan cricket is what I would like. There is no denying the fact that at the moment he is not only one of the most lethal bowlers in the world but by far the best we have in our country. We just need to handle him better.
As you pointed out your self, you could care less about off field ****. Well in that case the only problem Shoaib has is his fitness. His record suggests that his onfield performance has been just fine. Whatever he does off the field is his own business so as long as ha can stay fit everything should work out just fine.
Re: One bad apple is always there / Impression on worcestershire
just leave him alone and start bashing him if he fals to deliver ..... until that point just leave him alone and prayfrom him + Pakistan if any of u think for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket ...... why not bash Yasir Hameed for getting out upteen times the same way ...... why not Shabbira for his action which has brought Pakistan cricket into bad light for several times ..... he even faces a suspension from all form of cricket if he is reported again ...... why not bash Sami who is our version (Pakistans) of Ganguly Razzaq whose selection in the Test team left one guessing for what he is in the final 11, batting or bowling ....... the list could go on and on ...... If he only could manage his trap a touch better ...... but oh well
just let him be what he likes to be and judge him only once he performs or fails to perform ..... don't dig up old ones ...... otherwise u could bash almsot every part of this team ...... maybe apart from Afridi
Re: One bad apple is always there / Impression on worcestershire
None of the players you mentioned above threatens the atmosphere of our Team. If he plays for Pakistan and performs WELL AND GOOD but if because of him the rest of the team is disturbed then what will you say ?
Re: One bad apple is always there / Impression on worcestershire
I was only pointing out the fact that there are some godd things written in that article about Shoaib as well, it not all negative thats all. Plus you mentioned that he is not performing on field. His performance itself has never been too big of an issue as oppose to
a) His attitude
b) His fitness (or lack of)
When he is fit and plays, more often then not he is the pick of our bowlers. He has speed but then so does Sami but Sami has been far less destructive then Shoaib. The only reason Sami is not criticized so much is becasue he keeps a low profile, he doesnt open his mouth and seems to be a humble guy. So basically the problem with Shoaib is his attitude and his fitness not his performance. Yet you said you could care less if he is an asshole off field so long as he performs. Unfortunatley majority of the public, the cricket establishement, ex as well as current players dont seem to think the same way.
Re: One bad apple is always there / Impression on worcestershire
i think akhtar is a necessary inclusion if were gonna hav any chance at beating eng. neither sami, gul nor shabbir hav that matchwinning quality of his. they might take a wicket or two each, but definitely wont produce huge hauls. having said that, shoaib is quite unreliable and a gamble really...if hes fit and on song he'll cause plenty of problems with the english batsman...if he breaks down after ten overs or is smashed all over the ground, then it'll really put a lot of pressure on the other guyz to perform... 50-50 but id take that chance as that is pretty much the only way we can win
Re: One bad apple is always there / Impression on worcestershire
The problem is Shoaib Akhtar's fitness and his mouth not him. He is a great bowler and has great amount of cricket left in him. He along with Sami and Rana can really provide the lethal bowling force that can help Pakistan win matches. The real problem with Shoaib is that he has been making the same mistakes (lack of fitness, and mouthing off) that he made in last 3-4 years.
If you look at WC '03 Shoaib along with Inzi, Younis, Razzaq and Afridi had pretty bad performances, but the difference is that Inzi along with Younis, Afridi and Razzaq really worked hard and kept their fitness and made it back into the team. Right now they are the team not like Shoaib who is either in or out.
If Shoaib along with Sami and Rana can get back to track and bowl for Pakistan on a consistant basis that is from fall of '05 to fall of '06 they can develop a lethal combination of pace and swing that can really help Pakistan in the '07 WC. For that to happen Shoaib has to join the team and stay fit. Once again he has been given a chance so let see what happens.
