@LP no its not that. When you read you think more you know more and you realize the distinction between right and wrong. That adds to your obligation of doing more for things around you, people you love etc. That makes you more tied up as you feel the responsiblity upon you.
Now if you are talking about “soul” freedom it till is not making sense. However, the quote by RR Martin is quite true.
Talking about that, I need to start reading GoT books.
