ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

http://www.indianexpress.com/story/12372.html

It’s true. Especially — and this is probably where I feel more chauvinistic about India than some of you do — I think India as a multi ethnic, multi cultural, multi religious society in terms of its inclusiveness, its management of democracy including electronic voting machines, is a model. The US should never be afraid of a rising democratic country. Also, what is so amazing is the huge Muslim population in India. Americans are very wonderful people, but not geographically very open or understanding. I always have to say not every Muslim lives in the Middle East, the most populous Muslim state is Indonasia, and India comes right after that. And that is why I think India is a model for so many things.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

^Great, wonderful, now point me to a great and democratic, tolerant Indian board where I can praise Pakistan without getting banned. Many Thanks.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

What is your point?

Did she say that?

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Is writing the truth on a Pakistani board not allowed ?

Btw, I dont know of any Indian board which is run as efficiently as GS :k:

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

I’d suggest you start with Bahrat Rakshak and enjoy the freedom of GS or any bad silly Paki forums…

Welcome back Mufakkar long time no see! where have you been?

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

The point is all this harping of Indian inclusiveness and democracy on a Pakistani board got me to wonder if I could use any of this freedom and tolerance to publish something positive about Pakistan on an Indian board…or in an Indian Newspaper (even as a letter to the editor)…or on Indian TV…or radio.

Thanks Abdali! Its been a while, but its good to see you guys around.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Oh yeah Bharat Buk buk jhuk jhuk forum where they are suggesting that “Balochi freedom fighters” shoot down PIA planes taking off from Quetta airport and even the mods are advising on ways it could be done/what missiles to use etc.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

There is one more forum called indiandefenceforum.com to couter their pakistani counterpart i guess. There are pakistanis and more chinese.

Now to the thread starter, IMHO no need for any glorification. It looks bad.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

In case you are thinking it is my interview - It not my interview, its Madaleine Albaright's interview.

If you read the whole interview there are a few good points abouts Pakistan (esp. Mushi)

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

I am sure you could...if you found an Indian discussion forum. Pls let me know if you find one.

Ofcourse, you would have Indians pouncing on all the pro-Pak news the way you & your brethren do for all pro-India news :D

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Well there is Bharat Rakshak and there are Indian cultural/songs websites that have discussion boards complete with world affairs and politics sections.

Its not the pouncing that I am talking about. Naturally that is part of a debate and that is what’ll happen…its how items extolling Pakistan when sent to Indian boards dissappear and users banned.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Same woman who said that killing two million iraqis, half of them children, by denying them medicines and food was justified...

Little wonder that the butcherers and mass killers of muslims think alike...

This is akin to Emperor Herohito reveling in getting praise from Hitler...

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Did she? Some links please.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

^^
If only majority of Hindus were not tainted by blind hatred of Muslims as the author of the following article:

“We Think the Price Is Worth It”
Media uncurious about Iraq policy’s effects- there or here

By Rahul Mahajan

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price–we think the price is worth it.

–60 Minutes (5/12/96)

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

^^ Sad

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Very sad. How could she be so irresponsible. When few thousand people died in twin tower bombing (I am not trying to say it was the right thing done by terrorists) then they say - these terrorist kill civilians, when Iraqi children die they say price is right. Such double standards. I think this double standard is the reason for most of the world not liking American Government.
India has always suffered from American double standards. Its only now they are realizing they can't do without India.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

Where have you been man??? We’ve been saying this for years now…Note this comment was made back in '96 and created a huge furor in the left leaning circles, but not he mainstream…and you hadn’t even heard about it…

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

I did hear about.

I think she later regretted making that statement.

Re: ON THE RECORD: MADELEINE ALBRIGHT

I had not. In 1996 I was not even too interested in world politics.
The media here in US never talks about it. I have not heard anyone asking her about these comment in interviews in recent years .:frowning:
