On a scale of one to ten..

How painful is it giving birth?

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

Its hard to describe but its kind of like very heavy period pains I think.. thats what people told me.. but to be honest.. the minute you see your angel... you forget everything.. you don't think/feel about the pain any more..

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

I'm guessing, 20?

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

:omg:

I had two c’s and the procedure wasn’t that bad but the 2 weeks following it were no less than living in hell. It’s like someone took a knife and gutted you for the most part and put you together again.

happy concieving!

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

One of my sis told me giving birth was 10 on a scale from 1-10 and the worst pains she ever went through in her life.

My other sis found her labour experiences a beautiful experience and didn't even want pain relief so she wouldn't miss out on the true experience! Lol!

I'm expecting soon and totally dreading going into labour! Lol!

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

It's bad but nothing you can't handle.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

I didn’t want to say this publicly (mainly because it’s one of the things i hold over men, as they don’t suffer at all :snooty:) but let the truth be known - i didn’t find labour excruciatingly painful at all. Painful, yes, but it wasn’t THAT bad. It depends on your own pain threshold.

And i concur with NJ. Having given birth, both naturally (without pain relief) and via C-section, the aftermath of a C is WAY more uncomfortable than giving birth, so don’t think you’ve taken the easy way out by being “too posh to push”.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

Epidurals!!! I found out you can get one starting at 1 cm too if the anesthesiologist is available, so yay for that!

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

^ Well yeah but then things will slow down and you might have to wait and wait till the baby is born .. I got it around 5-6 cm and still it took some hours before I was ready to push.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

The spinal block that they give you isn't a breeze either. It's like a giant bee sting.

But again most woman are looking at the bigger picture thus willing to do whatever it takes.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

I have chosen natural birth eventhough I am scared to death of the pain level. its my first time and I have no clue..dont have anyone around me either whom I can ask..thanks God for GS:D

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

First babies are always hard! labour is very extreme, but you forget once baby is in your arms :)
Gas and air is the best thing ever if you dont want an epidural. Yo have this madhoshi over you which is ace :D

There are many side affects with epidural, mainly back problems for a very long time (even years) after the baby is born!

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

10...

20....

30................................

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

With epidural it's very easy. A 5 or 6 I would say.... that is before epidural. And like NJGal said it's not easy getting it either, but once it's in your system you're in a whole different world.

With my first one it actually stopped working after a few hours, and the pain or actually the pressure I felt I will never ever forget even though they say you forget everything once your baby is born.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

From religious point of view, Allah says "there is no pain like delivery pain" - sums it up

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

with the first baby it was very very painful, almost like someone is dragging my soul out of my body(I can guess pain of death would be similar or even worse coz I survived the labour).

with the second baby it was still quite painful but lesser than the first one and with the third one it was quite easy and much less painful alhamdulilah.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

it definitelty delays the birth and you become really tired....i had pathidine with the first one but it didn't help much.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

The simple plain (besides other things) is a reason enough to be a 'mama's boy' :D

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

the problem I have is that I dont regular pains, it comes rises and then falls .. its so annoying to see the monitor .. coz it should just get more and more with each contraction. Thats why they put the infusion on me to try to get the pains that are needed for the birth and as they are horrible pains I opt for the epidural.

Re: On a scale of one to ten..

it was painful but nothing that cannot be handled!
