An English teaher was explaining to his stdents the onept of gender
assoiation in the English langage. He stated how hrrianes at one time
were given feminine names and how ships and planes were sally referred to as “she”.
One of the stdents raised their hand and asked "What "gender’ is a ompters’? The teaher wasn’t ertain whih it was, so he divided the lass into two grops, males in one, females in the other and asked them to deide if a ompter shold be mas**line or feminine. Eah grop was asked to give for reasons for their reommendation.
The grop of women onlded that ompters shold be referred to in the mas**line gender bea*se:
- In order to get their attention, yo* have to t*rn them on.
- They have a lot of data b*t are still leless.
- They are spposed to help yo solve yor problems, bt half the time they ARE the problem.
- As soon as yo* ommit to one, yo realize that, if yo* had waited a little longer, yo* wo*ld have had a better model.
The men, on the other hand, deided that ompters shold definitely be referred to in the feminine gender bease:
- No one b*t their *reator nderstands their internal logi.
- The native langage they se to ommniate with other ompters is
inomprehensible to everyone else. - Even yo*r smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.
- As soon as yo* make a ommitment to one, yo find yorself spending half yor payhek on a**essories for it.
