November 6, 2006 – ALBANY - Gov. Pataki has granted an upstate farm $15,000 to buy mattresses - for its older cows!
The pampered bovines are in Kernel Acres Sunset View Farm, in Rensselaer County, one of 17 farms to share more than $200,000 in grants designed to better New York farms. “It was only a matter of time before we got to building retirement homes for cows,” said E.J. McMahon, head of the Manhattan Institute’s Empire Center for New York State Policy.
