Omar shariff was a big let down at the awards function held in dubai
first of all his karachi gallis mohalla humour is not the cosmopolitan indians type
in india we donot make fun of our legends and amitabh bachan is one. omar shariff lowered himself in the eyes of suave indians when he he foolishly tried to dig at the big b.
the omar shariff jokes on women are a passe and is extremely outdated and cheap to talk of womens make up and weight!
omar shariffs type of humour is usually the type of humour popular in small towns in india .
it will be wise of him to learn to behave among mix cultures and sophisticated people. besides i have noticed that pakistani anchors have this habbit of degrading thier guest. its disgusting ,if pakistanis dont respect thier legends and heros what respect will they have for each other

dude shut up. we've seen indian movies and we've seen raunch (johnny lever, films like Jism, 99% of indian songs are unwatchable with family) so don't preach to us about virtuosity. if you don't like it, switch the channel but don't pretend

I'm not a fan of Omar Sharif, and I agree that a lot of times, he gets into cheap comedy... comparatively, Moin Akhtar is a better standup comedian but unfortunately he doesn't appear in a lot of shows, or at least I haven't seen him around.
At the Zee awards, most of his jokes were old material and boring... the one that I DID like however, was the one about Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge... I laughed my head off at that one!!

Yeah! Like I know how SOPHISTICATED and COSMOPOLITAN India is....LOL! The cheap and lewd Indian humour in all those trashwood flicks is inanely vulgar!
Incidentally, the Indian 'Cosmpoloitan' students who come to US are mocked on US campuses for their 'sophisticated' dress sense and accents.
In Pakistan, we guys eat, speak and dress better than most in India. So refrain from talking abt sophistication and all in future...it sounds really funny coming from an Indian...!

I’m not trying to defend Omar Sharif, but what was so cheap about the joke? He only made fun of AB’s height. I don’t think that was that bad. Plus he did say a lot of nice things too. He took worse shots at Pakistanis.
What about the Indian comedian Shekar Suman cracking jokes about our movies? WE don’t steal bollywood ideas, BOLLYWOOD steals OUR stuff.
Plus, did anyone notice, Shekar was the one who started saying negative stuff about us and Pakistani movies, Omar Sharif was a bit taken aback and tried to come up with comebacks, but Shekar just continued with his onslaught. argh!!! Call someone from Pakistan in your awards ceremony, call them on stage, and then do their bisti…how hospitable

Its the same Omar Sharif....whose jokes are ripped off and repeated in every other Govinda and Jhonny Lever movie.

THE problem with all muslims is that instead of acccepting thier fault and rectifying thier mistakes they start pin pointing others mistakes
look here gentlemen johny lever is considered to be a b grade comedian in india who is for the front benchers and low grade audience so buy comparing him to omar shariff itself you people commiting a blunder. but its important for you people to know that even johny lever never insults (humour or whatever) the respected senoirs there
and even shekhar suman has never stooped so low
i like omarshariffs comic timing and nice jokes and sense of humour may be good for the local taste but i would expect omar shariff to expand his horizons with some new sophisticated and civilised humour

Kabir bhai, there are tonnes of "sophisticated" artists in Pakistan. But almost all of them associate with television as you would well know. And quite frankly most of these artists and their fans would rather not associate with Bollywood.
You have to understand that this show was a movie industry event and therefore, our movie industry karta dhartas joined their counterparts. Now, it just happens to be the case that our film walas are considered the lowest of the low among our artists.
If you wanted to rub shoulders with the elite artists of Pakistan, you should've invited the Anwar Maqsoods, the Moin Akhtars, etc for real comedy, satire. But with all due respect, most of their stuff would've gone way over the head of the audience of such Bollywood shows.
