I’m fast becoming a convert to this, despite being sceptical at first.
Does anyone else use this? I’m especially curious to know how people with oily skin find it…apparantely it’s meant to be an excellent cleanser and doesn’t leave your skin any more greasy either.
Would it also work in place of shampoo? I was reading an article in the local newspaper about shampoos bad side effects on the brain, been looking for a natural alternative ever since. I’m not the meterosexual type just like to keep clean and tidy.
Diva - I've been using it for the past few nights now and really love the way it leaves my skin silky smooth and soft.
The way I use it is.....massage a good slosh of virgin olive oil into my face for a few minutes, then wring out a muslin clothe in fairly hot water and use that to wipe off the oil. You'll be amazed at how much grime it removes. Keep wringing out the clothe and wiping a few times and then finish off by splashing your face with cold water to close the pores.
I only do that at night, in the morning I just use my rosewater as usual.
Ranjhan - not sure if it would work as an actual shampoo....wouldn't that be too oily to clean your hair with? I have used it as a deep conditioner though which also works very well but makes your hair smell like salad.
shahreen i know this is a weird question, but where can u get a muslin cloth from? i havent seen any in the shops and ive been meaning to start using it for ages :)
I get mine from Boots.....oddly enough they're usually kept in the baby aisle, next to the nappys and such. I think they're around £5 for a pack of twenty and they're very big so I cut each cloth into quarters and throw them away. Sounds a bit wasteful but for that price it's hardly going to break the bank and it's a lot less hassle and more hygienic than washing them.
Saadia - you mean that you don't think you can clean your face without soap? You'd be surprised how squeaky clean your face feels just using olive oil.
Nancy - it’s just plain virgin olive oil…you’re bound to have some lying around the house anyway. Obviously don’t use any of those fancy chilli and garlic infused oils though. Ouch.
What is muslin cloth, is that the stuff cloth diapers are made of? Shahreen, maybe your skin feels/looks really good because of the other fancy creams you use?
I think you mean terry towelling clothe Belle....which would probably be akin to rubbing your face with sandpaper. Muslin cloth is ( I think) a loose and coarse weave cotton fabric.
My friend went around a department store asking if they sold 'muslim clothe'. Haha.
