Although not a gangsta rap by hardcore standards, the following song was one of the first rap songs I heard back in Pakistan. I rented this VHS of music videos and this song was in it. I was speechless and the rest is history. Now I happen to have a large collection of gangsta rap from old and new school :D

Explicit lyrics, glamorizing the hustlin hood, derogatory names for opposite sex, sounds of gunshots and heavy bass: Gangsta Rap is born.

This is the theme song from the movie "Colors" released back in 1988. It depicts the gang life in South Central LA. Starring Sean Penn and Robert Duvall.
