Old is Gold!!

Re: Old is Gold!!

Three of the best not only in Pak cricket but world cricket. :k:

Re: Old is Gold!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i miss waqar and wasim....thosze of us who saw them live for almost 8 years (1989-1997) know what i mean...this guy waqar had won us so many so many close matches and not for 1 or 2 years, at least for good 7 years....and of course wasim too.... believe me or not but the general rule of thumb among Pakistani cricket lovers used to be, if opponent needs 50-60 runs in last 10 overs with 5-6 wickets remaining, Pak will win because and waqar and wasim will blast them....and it used to happen every other match....literally every other match...opponent team would be 212 for 4 in 40th over and all out 243!... and of course it was the same story in test matches as well....many people don't realize that these two took 1700 international wickets.....that is freaking impressive...our win loss ratio could be much better but our batting usually deserted us

Re: Old is Gold!!

The guy in middle ***ed with the careers of both guy on his right (who Ironically brought him into International cricket) and guy on his left. What a Character.

Re: Old is Gold!!

Haha u always point fingers against the Heroes of Pakistan Cricket cz ur Hero ie Malik doesnt even deserve to be in the team right now.........

Wasim is a legend and today Brian Lara said in his interview He is the best bowler of the world ever !

Re: Old is Gold!!

Best bowler in the world does not mean one is a good human being, most sporting player, or things like that.

One can be a good player and a bad person. The state of affairs of Pakistan as a country, and Pakistan cricket as a sports these past few decades, nothing is black and white once you analyze it. For my money, all three in the above picture are guilty of leg-pulling, politics, dirty tactics, and the two bowlers even took drugs while on a tour of West Indies.

Heck, one is almost a proven match fixer. Yup, I am talking about the best bowler of the world ever!

Re: Old is Gold!!

blast from the past indeed

Re: Old is Gold!!

I dont think the drug thing was proven. They were on a beach and some drugs were on that beach near to where they were, how does make them guilty and the case was not proven. We have a habit of assuming guilty till proven guilty just to run down people .

Re: Old is Gold!!

I can agree with that, but the thing is that where there’s fire, there’s smoke.

While it would be unfair to label them as taking drugs, even if for once, a tryout, there were some pretty conflicting reports at that time. And frankly, these two bad boys had to be at the center of it all, no one ever said that other members of that Pakistan team dabbed with drugs at that time.

Having said that, bad as it sounds, I can’t blame them if they smoke some green, once. Injecting banned substances to improve performance (and gain an unfair advantage over other competing athletes) is a lot worse in my eyes. Sadly, this is one of those things where we may never know the truth about, unless someone writes a book.

But my point was, which I am sure you understood, was that even good guys have some gray areas. Not everyone is white all the time. Or black for that matter. And that’s what makes them human. What we shouldn’t do, however, is paint them as such. Make celebrities out to be people who can do no wrong. Because, as the end of the day, they are human beings, just like you, me, and everyone reading this.

Unless this page is being scanned by a search engine robot - in which case, my sincerest apologies.

Re: Old is Gold!!

Very well, first guy to come out in may 1994 and openly answered the questions on why players felt like as if there was a valid need for them to revolt against the champion few months ago. He did ended up paying a price for it too.

Re: Old is Gold!!

Isn’t this Asif Mujtaba?

I don’t recall Asif Mujtaba (if that is Asif) involving in such affairs, can you shed more info?

Re: Old is Gold!!

.

Re: Old is Gold!!

Memories.

If only it was not for politics, they could have served Pakistan even better and even longer…

Re: Old is Gold!!

Too long of a story...bottom line he came out and explained why players felt the need for a revolt against wasim in Apr/May 1994.
