Old Classics

I would like to begin collecting old hindi classic’s.

So far I have “Don” and “Amir, Akbar, Anthony” The DVD’s even have special features…English subtitles!

I cannit think of any others… :frowning:

I only want the really cool gangster dushum dushum gunday type ones, none of the lovey dovey romantic nonsense.

Re: Old Classics

Sholey, Anand, Naseeb, Mard, Raj Tilak, Mother India, Pran jaye par vachan na jaye, (ANy Sunil Dutt's Dacoit Movie), Kshtriya etc....

Re: Old Classics

Re: Old Classics

Shaan, Shakti, Charas, Great Gambler.....

Re: Old Classics

how old is old?

along the same era as Amar Akbar Anthony, and Don, I’ll stick to Amitabh movies from the same time that you’ve missed:

** 1. Sholay:**
by far the classic amongst classics - an absolute legend that is the highest grossing movie of all time in India and was declared it the “Film of the Millennium” by BBC India… its become a karaoke experience for so many who’ve not only memorized the dialoges, the characters but also the sound-effects :hehe:

2. Satte Pe Satta:
a complete entertainer with one-liners and quotes aplenty.
**
3. Shakti:**
with a clash of the titans - Amitabh and Dilip Kumar.

4. Shaan:
fun treat with guns, secret rooms, rotating chairs, sharks and crocodiles.

Interestingly enough I think (?) all these movies also have the same director.

Re: Old Classics

Thanks guys, I'v heard of most of these. The only one I remember is Sholay, although im loving the sound of Shaan...rotating chairs and crocs! Wow.

Umar...Old as in Amitabh old and perhaps older. I don't mind Black and White, and movies which have Lata and Rafi as the musical artists would be perfect.

Theres something about Amitabh and double roles. Shenshah? I cannit spell it. The line where he introduces himself is class...I cannit remember it though.

Re: Old Classics

^ Satte pe Satta has Raj Sippy; the other 3 have Ramesh Sippy. They might be cousins (I am not sure)

Re: Old Classics

Rishtay mein to hum sabke baap lagte hain, naam hai Shahenshah :lajawab:

Re: Old Classics

Aye, thats the one. Bless him.

Re: Old Classics

Its… Rishte me to hum tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hai Shahenshah

MM, speaking of double roles and Amitabh… dunno if you’ve watched Mahaan - triple role Amitabh movie and amazzing entertainment value.

Re: Old Classics

wow, 10 comments in a lil while after my first comment..
damn i am a motivator :D

Re: Old Classics

But is it worth buying? I only want movies I know I will be able to watch over and over again...until I can afford to buy the James Bond series!

Re: Old Classics

It sure is... I have in on VHS and VCD and am looking to buy it on DVD.

Re: Old Classics

Ok, I will buy it. I'm going to trust you on this one as I know you listen to Rafi and you wouldn't possibly lie to me.

Re: Old Classics

^ hahaha… listening to Rafi directly proportional to level of trust :hehe:

Re: Old Classics

Yes, and the fact that you are a fellow educator. We teachers never lie! :halo:

Re: Old Classics

its not old and its not indian..but if u havnt seen payback, you should. i loved this mel gibson movie.

Re: Old Classics

I think I'v seen that Sheraz...is it the one where Lucy Lu plays a prostitute and tells Mel she has 6 and a half minutes to go and he tells her to go boil an egg? That was funny :D

Re: Old Classics

Yessss i loved that movie..remember when he said "I got hammered" in the end
