Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

Hi all,
What do you all do with your Desi outfits that you no longer want? I have been trying to sell mine on various forums Instagram, Gupshup, facebook, ebay but haven’t really had any luck. I am in the process of cleaning my closet and getting rid of most of my stuff. I have already gotten rid of outfits that I have worn plenty of times but there are some outfits that I barely wore or didnt even wear and just can’t bring myself to just throw them out. Anyone know of good second hand selling sites or is interested in buying some? Or a good reputable charity?

What do you all do with them?

Selling these Outfits.

Hi guys, I am trying to sell some of my barely used/new stuff . I posted them in the classified sections but maybe this is a better place so leaving a link to that thread here if anyone’s interested.

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

It would be great if there was a place/site/thread we could use to sell our outfits. I have many desi outfits that I've grown out of and wouldn't mind selling (Some have hardly been worn therefore definitely don't wont to throw them out)

I only know of Ebay and some Instagram accounts (which I haven't tried)

Mine are just pilling up in the closet and all my friends and family have different sizes, so they can't borrow or swap either.

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

Because I'm having trouble selling them also, I end up sending them to my family in Pakistan so that they may give it to the less fortunate there.

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

Should we start a Facebook page with couple of us as admins and see if it produces any results? I have tried selling on Instagram but it just doesn't get any response...

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

There are already a couple of FB pages that are doing this. Just do a search in FB and you'll see them.
I don't know how effective they are......they often get flooded by vendors from Pakistan trying to sell new stuff so the gently used stuff gets overlooked.

If you do decide to start your own page, might I suggest that you restrict it to gently used items ONLY? And then be vigilant about removing those postings that do not fall in this category?

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

If there was a market for them, they would sell. In the west, I think people prefer to and can afford to buy new clothes. If you look at the prices people charge for used clothing, a person may as well buy something new and usually, more up-to-date. There are those who are less fortunate but then I doubt they would be looking at spending very much at all.

I send all my stuff to Pakistan to do be donated. The semi formal and formal wear that is in good condition I have been told is donated to young girls who are getting married and they really appreciate it. Sometimes I do end up sending unworn items that have been hanging around for a while but it helps to know that they are going somewhere where they will be appreciated. Even the casual stuff... needy people manage to put the fabric to good use if it's good quality fabric.

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

I am ok sending some of the stuff for donation. But all my exp designer stuff that i haven't worn much, I have a hard time donating.

I agree about having extra controls on who and what can be posted.

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

You're all right. If we do start a page, we can make it restricted so only posts that get approved by the admin go on the page and we can super vigilant about no other brands promoting their own designs or what have you.
I have tried to take my older and barely used stuff to Pakistan whenever I go but it gets hard when you don't go as often or when you already have a lot of luggage to take. I really would suggest donations over selling any day.
If any of you can volunteer to be one of the admins, I can start the page and see what kind of response we get?

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

I do sell them on ebay, but for a very low price, maximum is $20, even 10, plus shipping. Before you think that is too low, sell 12 outfits ( to counter profits given to ebay) and there is 1 $100 right there. There are charity options on ebay too where you can give a certain or whole percentage of your sales or profit ( I forget which) to a charity of your choice. There were some Afghan related charities too. All my low priced items sold, even the ones with stains (I pointed that out and showed pics).

Re: Old/Barely Used/Gently used Pakistani outfits.

I guess I can try that. At least the outfit will get used by someone instead of collecting dust in a closet

Charles and keith Heels for sale.

Hi guys,
As i mentioned in couple other threads that I am in the process of cleaning my closet as I’m moving soon so I have been trying to get rid of most of my stuff.

I just found some Charles and Keith heels size 9.5/eu 41. I bought them while on vacation and realized they run big. I usually wear 9 and thought i could make them work with inserts . they were on sale and super cute and i didnt want to let them go. well they didnt work and now they have been sitting in my closet for more than a year now.
theyre brand new. worn once around the house
They’ll fit if youre size 9.5-10. or 9.5 with wide feet.
Attaching couple of pics. I am not looking to make money off them,Ill sell them for 25 with 5-6 dollar shipping if you’re interested. I just want them get used by someone atleast. :frowning: It hurts everytime I look at them but can’t wear them.lol

I have been doing some research and I came across this site where they buy/sell/rent desi outfits. BUT the best part is that they actually will collect items people want to donate and send it to different countries to women who are in need.
https://www.ourbazaar.net/donate-item/

I actually talked to a representative about the process and they seem pretty legit. They even send you a free shipping label after you send them the dimensions of the box you’re using to send donations.
They work with Helping Hands, Hidaya- both of which send clothes to India, pakistan and Bangladesh. They also work with manavi- who distributes clothes to women in need in the New Jersey area.
Sorry for the long post. I just got super excited and very happy to see all the details. Atleast now we have a place where we can donate our Desi stuff to.
