Indians copied that song in Tridev...and it is a Miamo Sound Machine song, sung by Gloria Estefan

Yes mangelo we know that, but the song she mentions doesnt sound like the conga!

I think the title was 80s songs,so here are the TOP TEN hindi/urdu songs of 80---91

Results of The Eighties' Songs Vote
Compiled by Mohammad Ali Ikram
[email protected]

Individuals have been e-mailing me for weeks to get hints on the results
of this hotly contended and anxiously awaited section.  And though the
results were always scheduled to be up in early November, the interim
was a trying period.  Over ninety (i.e. exactly 92 to be exact)
different valid songs from eighties' movies received nominations, and as
the results show, it is not necessary for only one song in each movie to
be remembered fondly by music listeners.  (In a couple of cases, the
voting for multiple songs in a movie worked towards its detriment.  No
individual song from Chandni could make the top ten list.)
Voting for your favourite songs must have also been tougher for everyone
as the turnout compared to the Eighties Film voting was considerably
lower.  Starting at the ninth rank onwards there are too many tied songs
to merit listing ranks beyond the top ten.  (Though, the tie for ninth
place has of course still been provided.)
Enough stalling now, the public awaits.  Ladies and gentlemen your
favourite songs from Hindi film of the 1980s.

10.    "Aye Watan Tere Liye"

Movie:  KARMA
Directed by:  Subhash Ghai
Music:  Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Lyrics:  Anand Bakshi
Singer(s):  Mohammad Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal

How about starting with a bit of patriotism.  (And coincidentally a song
from the movie that was itself number ten on the favourite eighties'
movies list.)  It might be because 1997 is India's 50th year of
Independence, but Indians the world over seem to hold their native land
close to their hearts in every way possible.

9.    "Nindiya Se Jagee Bahaar" (tie)

Movie:  HERO
Directed by:  Subhash Ghai
Music:  Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Lyrics:  Anand Bakshi
Singer(s):  Lata Mangeshkar

Two songs from Subhash Ghai movies in a row.  (Does Mr. Ghai have a
large family putting in votes for him all the time?)  Seriously though,
this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.  Eloquent,
beautiful and immortal are just some of the words to describe Lata's
singing;  more so in this classical rendition.  It is a crime that some
individuals might have yet to hear it.

9.    "Jidhar Dekhoon Teri Tasveer" (tie)

Movie:  MAHAAN
Directed by:  S. Ramanathan
Music:  R.D. Burman
Lyrics:  Anjaan
Singer(s):  Kishore Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan

An unforgettable comedy classic with a classic love song.  Soothing to
the ears and provided in two equally enjoyable versions;   in the voices
of a singing legend and acting supremo.  Combine it with the ethereal
beauty of Waheeda Rehman and you will not want to listen to anything
else for days.

8.    "Yaad Aa Rahee Hai"

Movie:  LOVE STORY
Directed by:  Rahul Rawail
Music:  R.D. Burman
Lyrics:  Anand Bakshi
Singer(s):  Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar

Are they lonely souls or eternal romantics?... I have yet to discover
why so many people are head-over-heels for this semi-depressing duet.
Give it time the family says.  Maybe it will be the day I find the woman
of my dreams.

7.    "Dil Cheez Kya Hai Aap Meri"

Movie:  UMRAO JAAN
Directed by:  Muzaffar Ali
Music:  Khaiyyam
Lyrics:  Shahryar
Singer(s):  Asha Bhosle

Rekha won the National Award for the title role in this classic.  And
Asha Bhosle's contribution to the win is irrefutable.  The actress and
the singer both displayed an intimate knowledge of the soul of Umrao
Jaan. As Asha sings the words, "Dil Cheez Kya Hai..." the listener
reciprocates her sentiments.  Truly, we would give our lives if given
the chance to listen to hear this tune again in heaven.

6.    "Yeh Kya Jageh Hai Dosto"

Movie:  UMRAO JAAN
Directed by:  Muzaffar Ali
Music:  Khaiyyam
Lyrics:  Shahryar
Singer(s):  Asha Bhosle

See what I mean about liking more than one song from the same movie.
This song is the major reason why this listener feels Asha Bhosle is the
most talented singer on the planet.  Sure she can easily sing fun,
frothy cabarets and rock ballads.  But listen to Asha's gut-wrenching
singing, and hear the story of an individual unfamiliar with her
surrounding in this unforgettable tune.  Each and every time, it will
transport you back to the climax of the movie, and it will also have
your tear ducts freely flowing.

5.    "Mohabbat Hai Kya Cheez"

Movie:  PREM ROG
Directed by:  Raj Kapoor
Music:  Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Lyrics:  Santosh Anand
Singer(s):  Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar

Honestly, does anyone really know what love is?  Padmini Kolhapure, in
Raj Kapoor's immortal movie, is so innocently depressing.  Yet she asks
a question which is so profound and unanswerable in simple terms.  Rishi
Kapoor responds to the best of his ability, by recounting the tales of
several individuals in love.  The song's simplicity recognizes that the
question is too difficult to conclusively answer.

4.    "Dekha Ek Khwab To Yeh Silsile Hue"

Movie:  SILSILA
Directed by:  Yash Chopra
Music:  Shiv-Hari
Lyrics:  Javed Akhtar
Singer(s):  Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar

What is a list of classic Indian film tunes without a song from the
master of love and music, Yash Chopra.  The team of Lata Mangeshkar and
Kishore Kumar is unbeatable, and everyone probably knows the lyrics to
"Dekha Ek Khwab..." by heart.  Plus who can forget Rekha, looking
gorgeous in a simple white shalwar kameez, running through the floral
gardens of Switzerland towards Amitabh.

3.    "Ek Do Teen"

Movie:  TEZAAB
Directed by:  N. Chandra
Music:  Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Lyrics:  Javed Akhtar
Singer(s):  Alka Yagnik

Everyone needs a little bit of trivialness in their life.  And few songs
provide you zaniness as well as "Ek Do Teen...", the song of a woman who
wastes a whole month for her lazy lover to return home.  There is
nothing profound in the song -- I even despised it until everyone kept
forcing it down my throat -- but it is catchy and made a dancing star of
Madhuri Dixit.  Hopefully a couple of street kids somewhere also learned
to count from it.

2.    "Aye Mere Humsafar, Ek Zara Intezaar"

Movie:  QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK
Directed by:  Mansoor Khan
Music:  Anand-Milind
Lyrics:  Majrooh Sultanpuri
Singer(s):  Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan

The eighties' Romeo & Juliet movie which gave us numerous talented
artistes of today (Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik,
Mansoor Khan and Anand-Milind).  Innocent romance is once again the
theme of this tune.  Young lovers count down the days till they expect
to next meet.  (Luckily, the situation is not the same as in "Ek Do
Teen..." from Tezaab.)

1.    "Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum"

Movie:  SILSILA
Directed by:  Yash Chopra
Music:  Shiv-Hari
Lyrics:  Javed Akhtar
Singer(s):  Amitabh Bachan, Lata Mangeshkar

So what did you guess would be number one?  It had to be a love tune of
course.  All Hindi film-lovers are essentially romantics at heart.
(Patriotism is a sentiment held strongly only by the Indian portion of
the audience.)  What better way of celebrating our 'love of love' than
by this Yash Chopra ditty.  Where, in fact, have we reached in this
journey together of the best Indian movies and songs of the eighties?
You will probably want to flip in one of the priceless tunes from this
list when you next turn on the stereo.
As wonderful as the trek through the eighties was, let us hope our
venture back through the Hindi films of the seventies (and forward into
the 21st century) is just as great.  Stay tuned, and keep in touch.
