I will try to get some suits made from scratch (and hopefully not kill someone in the process) and I want to start off with great fabric. I’m nto getting any heavy formals, just light semi formals that can be worn to both weddings and davats.
What is the best chiffon to get? and trouser fabric? So far almost all the suits I have ordered from the GS-based designers have been very nice fabrics with outstanding kaam and a nice feel…but when I look for chiffon in bazaars it just feels very different (rough and lower quality). So..educate me please.
Shafoons on MM Alam Rd (Opposite Pizza Hut) they have great quality pure chiffon fabrics, should go & have a look. :)
Oh btw it is my BIL's shop, his name's Hassan. He'll guide u to the latest designs etc.
Let me know how u found it. x
That's cool. It's usually very crowded there so be careful. Oh and another places you should check out is Ichra Bazaar and Anarkali. However going to Ichra is a bit dangerous.
I'm going there tomorrow and will report back. Fingers crossed.
Respected madam,
i have told you my shop's address and contact details.
if you want any type of hand embroidery dresses on top quality fabric , we will be pleased to assist you.
Thanks.
There's also New City Towers in Auriga (I think it might also be called new Auriga but I could be mistaken). I don't like a lot of the stuff but there are (were) a few shops that sell really nice chiffon banarsi's that I just didn't see anywhere else. I don't know how stock would have been affected by the floods though.
Then there are the banarsi shops in cavalry ground. Here you can get chiffon and silk banarsi's/jamawars, in original colours and also a good selection in white for dying. I bought a lot of stuff from here.
If you don't mind paying maybe a little more any of these shops with good quality fabric will have plain chiffons and silks for duputta's and shalwars if you ask. And if they don't have them they can usually tell you where to find them.

Thanks stoppit...just got a text from proto, will check out the places she mentioned...
So i went to Auriga today...i think we were in Old auriga (not sure if ti was the "old" or "new" one). I actually did like the selection of fabrics there and found many of the suits suitable for weddings and davats and any other semi-formal/formal events.....and i did find a large selection of chiffon banarsis as well.
Since we're on the subject of chiffon banarsis, I saw this one outfit in NY that was white chiffon with multicolor designs on it. I wanted it but couldn't find it there and as per my knowledge that type of dying isn't done. Now eeither my mind has created something that doesn't exist (as I may be remembering it differently) or I just haven't found it. :S

May I ask where in New York you shop for Pakistani outfits? I know there is a new store, "Banaras", in Jackson Heights- but I'd like to know what else is out there.
I saw that particular outfit at a shop right next to Raheela's beauty parlor on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn. There are 2-3 other stores in that one block....you can find nice casuals/semiformals there...not as cheap as what you could get yourself in pakistan of course but cheaper compared to JH.
khan baba is also locate in city tower dat is just opposite to auriga...khan baba has something nice printed suits of diff types,,,shiffon or ect...ladies often go for normal or casual outfits...u can visit...
