Acha shahzaday ji. Aap ke topic ko yahan sey shuru karte hain.
You asked why is “change” resented around here? Good question.
Probably because this nation acquired freedom from the “Angraiz” hukumat, our elders might be afraid that by bringing soem change to our traditional culture, we might be getting influenced by the West. That’s what I think anyway…what’s your opinion?
ok first of all i am also a PAFian as u put it :)(Peshawar, Faisal, Chaklala).
You, me and Fraudia seems to be only ones visiting this section, now where are all the other guppoos?...haaan????...
Yes, your Angraiz argument does hold some truth. I for one would not want to acquire "Western Culture" as it stands.
On the other hand i think change is the force which actually drives culture. Instead of just copying we should rather develop our own brand of Arts and Culture. Lets take an example of Junoon, now thats innovation, thats culture "My Culture". This kind of "change" is not encouraged in Pakistan. Why?
wonderful...people talking here..
And imagine that.. I am PAFian too. Faisal base. I think there must be something with PAFians that brings them to this forum.
any how my trip got extended by one more week, so not back until next sunday or so... been a long 6 weeks.
Yes innovations helps the culture to develop but these must be sensible. Do you really think what junoon has done is "your culture". Singing the Sufi poetry in a way they have done? or Allam Iqbal's poetry? What do you think those poets would have done to them if they still alive?
Yes instead of copying the other's culture we should develop our own culture but that does not mean destroying what we already have ;)
Hmm....wow....PAFians all around. hehe.
Developing our own culture...good idea. HOW?
Junoon ney to mauseeqi ki taang hi tor di!! The way they sang "Khudi ko ker buland itna". shudders. They should stick to their own lyrics. Considering they r the only rock n roll group in Pak, we gotta give them some credit for revolutionising the music industry.
I think Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan brought a new change. Don't you think?
What about the clothes? Kids these days are turning towards jeans n stuff but i think we are better off with shalwar qameez :)
When I was at college to be pretty honest I really hated my culture in fact I would always disguise my true identity by adopting a western identity. Its only when I started University that I met with people who like me were in a state of confusion. Yes I was a BBCD as it is quite often put. We did something about, we talked about our confusion, and suprisingly everyone had similar anxieties & experiences. Today I feel totally relaxed with a well developed Pakistani Identity. I think we all need an arena to discuss culture and the influences it makes on people. You'll see me around this forum a lot.
Any way, this is a question to all Pafians. If I wanted to track someone down whose currently based in karachi as a ground officer, is this possible. And how would I do this????? Please help. email me if the answer is discreet!!!!!

You are sure the officer is not "under ground" ;)
Nageena I'm just a student at a PAF institution I have nooo idea about any officer.
JAK....haha..mean..
ok first of all there are four Air Bases in Karachi. If you know the name of the Base then you can just call the Air Base exchange and they should have a phone number, provided you know the full name and rank.
In the meanwhile i'll think of some other ways...theek????
