ok there is this kid!

He was from the neighbourhood, when I use to work at the store I use give him work .
Like bring me tea/bring me food/pick-drop books at the library.
And I use to give him 1$-2.50$ per job.
I promised him once he is little grown I will find him a job. His mom is on welfare. Sis is a ..u know..

The boy would be 12-14 year old or some thing. Is there any place where he could work?
Any ideas?

If any opportunity I can contact his mom or some thing.

Re: ok there is this kid!

How about paper delivery boy

Re: ok there is this kid!

Yeah, some newspapers hire kids that are that young.

Otherwise, according to Illinois law I believe you have to wait unil 15 or 16 and even then you need to have a permit from your parents and school to work. I started working at a little coffee shop when I was 15 part time and I remember they didnt hire me until I had permits signed by my principal and parents.

Re: ok there is this kid!

Is this a desi kid? Maybe a desi store could help him out by giving him a few hours?

Re: ok there is this kid!

i worked at a unlces ice cream shop when i was only 15...made money but gained so much weight :(
u can talk to some one (desi business owners) and c if they can hire him part time.

Re: ok there is this kid!

An 14 year friend of my son makes money off of craigslist. I never got any details from him what he does. But an example is that he bought an MP3 player from craigslist and sold it to my son for 10 bucks and still he made some profit. He makes some kind of CD's of free utilities and sells them through craigslist . I can find more details from him if you want.

no he is jamacan/affican-canadian or what ever ppl call it.
Thing is he grows 16-18 in a tough neighbourhood , he is going to become like other trouble makers.
So before that stage if he finds another way of living.

Re: ok there is this kid!

I think its nice you trying to help some kid it really is well done you.

hehe...not anymore...i m on a fruit diet...so sugar anymore :(

anyways...u can get all of ur friends and relatives to let him to wash their cars and pay him like $15 each wash.

Re: ok there is this kid!

^ Its right though. You never know what actions of ours can change someone's life.

I think his options might be limited right now because of his age.

The best thing would be a paper route, they hire young. A lot of the kids in my neighborhood cut grass and shovel snow for money too. In fact, everytime it snows one of the neighborhood kids comes by and cleans the entire driveway for $10 and of course, we tip them too. Maybe if he had regular jobs lined up like this, he would become too busy to engage in other non-productive things.

Re: ok there is this kid!

i was gonna say car washin you beat me to it yeah that'll work not only wash even clean the inside of cars and maybe other odd jobs around the house or garden

Not bad Idea.

Re: ok there is this kid!

PM at age 14, he can work at MacDonalds. They are everywhere and love hiring young people as it’s minimum wage. So he’s got a good chance there. Also, he can distribute flyers every weekend (the Saver Bag - I’m assuming you’re in Toronto - to all the apartment buildings). Info for that in on the saver bag itself.

Toronto Star also likes to hire youngsters to get subscriptions. All these jobs are hard but as it’s his first job, it should be tough so he can develop good work ethic. An easy peesy job at this age is not such a good idea ifyouknowwhatImean.

Good luck, you’re doing a good deed. And no need to pretend you are not trying to impress the ladies here.
