ok,ppl,as u know im thinking of working towards a degree in english n some other subject but im not sure if i should go for that…i want to go back to pakistan after i finish my eucation in london…coz i simply love pakistan n no place in da world feels like home,so wht do u ppl think i should do(i mean in education) to get a real good n well paid,respected job in pakistan.
the subjects i like are:
english,
history&
art.
n my teachers in these subjects think i should opt 4 them…my science teacher thinks i should go 4 medicine.im kinda confused,well da info i got so far is very limited n goes into one straight direction that if i get a degree in english i can only go into teaching in pakistan,i dont mind that but are there any other options???
I am amswering with the caveat that I have never lived in Pak, and cannot speak to which field is 'hot' there or not. In my opinion though, you should concentrate on Marketing. Its not too technical a field, and judging from your interests in Art, History, and English...should be a good fit for you. From a career perspective, All Ive heard is Marketing has quite a few opportunitites in Pakistan. IF you get an MBA, even better

How about an english and journalism combo?
first of all figure out what type of work would you like to do. for that figure out what are your interests strengths and weaknesses. then investigate some careers which are of interets and figure out what they involve, once that is done, figure out what you need to do to get there.
That will clear up your educational path quite easily.
as much as I value what your teachers have to say, they only see your aptitude for a certain area, i.e. te subject they teach. having an aptitude in an area does not always mean that its a good match for your career goals, and personality.
so start the exercise, write down what you are like, what your intersts are, what type of work atmosphere would you like, do you lie numbers, details, working with people or alone, do you like to lead or not etc etc. make the list as long as you want. then start listing them in order of importance. then look at careers and do a little bit of research focusing on what does a job entail. and then specifics of the jobs aside from your interests, how stable is it, how well does it financially compensate you, is it a growing or saturated field, then rank those characteristics in level of importance.
It will start to make sense and you will narrow your choices to an area where the real tough decisoons come cuz they will be very close and similar then u will have the real dilemma :)
I wish I had a magic pill to solve yer dilemma, but career decisions are important and oen has to be more involved. Look to others for feedback and advise, but u hafta do your homework.

umm..pj pehlay ye batao, would u like to be a social activist, a teacher, or do a job in a bank or some firm etc or open up ur own business etc? i mean what would u like to do?
hmm i think you can try and go for Art…
like fashion designing , textile designing, advertisment production etc!!
If you live in lahore , you can try for NCA :k: for that purpoise??

Journalism or International relations majors hav great opportunities here ... Fashion Designing is a HOT subject here too ... personally i think, it boils down to ur interest.. dont pick on sumthin that u r not intrested at.. u might end up regrettin it... study sumthin that sounds fun to u.. n oppertunity will find its way ... :)
