Ok I could not help

Re: Ok I could not help

Chapter 2 what took you so long ?

Re: Ok I could not help

But that does prove that there are plenty of examples of people following others thinking. In some cases culture too can become dogmatic.
For dogma i already said tha quote makes no sense and just a distraction for religion because dogma is not the only thing through which people live with others thinking. This is not the point but let me mention that religion claims that it came from God while cultural doesn’t.

Let me know what exactly he wants people do? To not to follow dogma or not to live with other people’s thinking?
Or he thinks only religion is where people live with other people’s thinking? If no then does he oppose every way of life where people live with the results of others thinking? I guess he won’t oppose following a culture which is also living with results of other people’s thinking. That is contradiction or quote has no intellect but a distraction for religion. Not only it make no sense but also a logical fallacy.

Dogma: an official system of principles or tenets concerning faith, morals, behavior, etc.

Re: Ok I could not help

Here is the entire quote:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”**– Steve Jobs

**
There is a big difference between following someone as if their every word is written in stone and taking someone’s opinions and suggestions and making up your own mind about it. If you cannot differentiate between the two, it certainly will sound illogical to you. If you believe something because someone says so, that’s dogma (abductive reasoning basically and being hellbent on the conclusion to be true). If you come to believe something through deductive reasoning and can explain it through your experience and research then it’s not dogma.

Dogmatic beliefs:
Islam is the truth because it says so in the Quran. There is no need to study other religions or even bother thinking about it.

Non-dogmatic beliefs:
Islam is the truth because I have researched it thoroughly and have had experiences which made me believe in Allah and his Rasool. I have done comparative study on religions and still came to the same conclusion.

Dogmatic + non-dogmatic beliefs:
Islam is the only true religion because it says so in the Quran and I have read the Quran thoroughly and understand it. I have done no comparative study on religions.

Re: Ok I could not help

See you are talking about religion. that is my point that the quote is merely a distraction for religion nothing else. The point remains, religion wont keep you from being innovative.
Anyway believe whatever you want to…

Re: Ok I could not help

Read my post again Believing in a religion does not equal to being dogmatic. It’s how you come to believe it that matters.
