Re: Oily Face
lost:
My skin has been VERY oily and acne prone since I was about 13…tried every over the counter stuff but nothing worked. Finally, when I was 17, went to a dermatologist and he gave me this cream for the acne.
The other thing the derm gave me was this pill…I totally forgot the name of it since this was quite a few years back…but it was a pill that I took once a day, and it reduced the amount of oil my skin produced. It really worked for me. I don’t know what your budget is and whether or not you mind taking meds, but if you can and are willing to go to a derm, I’d highly recommend that…if I remember the name of the pill, I’ll let u know.
When I moved out, about 2 years back my family has some financial problems and I had to stop seeing the derm. My acne/oiliness came back.
About a year ago, after seeing ads about Ortho Tri Cyclen and how its supposed to help with skin issues, I decided to take it even though I don’t need birth control(I’m not married)…and I can’t tell u how happy I am that I started it. It’s 1/4 the cost of the derm meds, but at least for me, it works. And now my skin is MUCH better…and there’s a dramatic drop in the oiliness.
One thing someone else mentioned, don’t wash your face more than 2x a day. If you wash u’r face too much, your skin will get too dry and the extreme lack of moisture will make your skin produce extra oil. Use a clenser specifically made for oily skin and just use it twice a day. I’d also recommend using a clasy mask once a week.
Is Ortho Tri Cyclen the only birth control pill that helps get rid of acne? Cos i heard that some birth control pills make acne worse.
When i was a teen i went to the dermo but it was a waste of time/money…their medicines r so harsh…just burned my skin or had no effect on the spots…even cleansers made for oily skin don’t suit me for some reason.
